Metro Vancouver boasts over 7000 restaurants including some of the best Chinese restaurants in the world.
A growing phenomenon in downtown Vancouver, is the addition of food carts scattered throughout the downtown area. The longstanding JapaDog carts have commanded lunch hour lineups for years but more recently, the city has decided to license a substantial number of new food cart vendors. There are many fantastic new offerings on the streets of Vancouver — Tacofino, KaboomBox, Fresh Local Wild, and Re-Up BBQ. Street carts are a great place to grab a quick bite while you are sightseeing. Friendly on the wallet, many of the food offerings are extremely tasty and well prepared. A visiting food critic from the UK was quoted in the Guardian describing Vancouver street food as the best in the world and Canada's top chef recently gave a high rating to many of the offerings.
