White spot on North Road in Burnaby is a fun stop when I can. I do love the Monty Mushroom burger. This location has in car service, bar and I found out a test menu sometimes.

I don't know what is happening with this chain and it's quality and pricing. Besides the fact that the prices at whitespots menu are now reaching premium, the quality and portion has gone down hill. Ordered the waffle breakfast which is like $15 and it's finished in literally 5 minutes. Super small portions. When we gave the server our feedback and asked if we can get a bit more with it, he went to immediate defensive mode and said " I'm sorry I am not the one setting the prices here". Hashbrowns were under cooked, they didn't bring out our extra fries, and list goes on.... worst whitespot I have been to.

My friends and I enjoyed a relaxing catch-up session at White Spot. I tried the Monty Mushroom Burger, and it was fantastic—juicy and packed with flavor. The restaurant had a spacious layout and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a great spot for conversation.

I’m not from Vancouver and I’m such a fan of this chain. It has the best options and a lot of good ones but not an overwhelming amount. We had a large group and they did a great job accommodating that. The food was 10/10. Service 9/10. Cleanliness 10/10. Speed 10/10. Had a great experience here. Side note: the Spiked Chocolate Espresso Shake drink is amazing, it gives you alcohol, caffeine and it’s cold. It has it all😍

Good selection of dimsum items. I came alone for a quick lunch in between meetings on a workday. No lines, plenty of parking spots in the plaza parking lot. Service was prompt and efficient.
I ordered the shrimp dumplings which were great. I also had the chasiu pastry. These were absolutely delicious.
However I made the mistake of ordering clay pot rice. It’s not so good. I couldn’t finish it. So be aware if you want to try this. The toppings aren’t tasty, the rice under cooked!
Oh, the Jasmin tea was good.
I’ll come back when I’m in the area still. But I’ll stick to dim sums. :D

We had lunch as a group of 12 and ordered the 6 dish special.
Dishes came out fast and the taste was good, not the greatest, but still delicious and filling.
Price was also reasonable at about CAD 20 per person.
The Peking Duck was delicious, but the wraps were slightly sticky and tended to tear when separated. The other dishes were pretty similar in taste despite having different ingredients.
I’d highly recommend the claypot tofu dishes as those had a lot of flavour.
Overall, I’d recommend this place as the flavour of the food has been consistent and the prices are still reasonable in 2024. It’s better to call in to make a reservation as the restaurant does get extremely busy.

Food portion is standard and quality is not as good. Service is alright. They also have push carts for food. One thing I didn’t like was that they were trying to “bribe” us for 5 stars reviews with desserts. Understandable but it destroys the purpose of a review system.

We came at 10am on a Saturday and the restaurant was empty when we got there. When we left at 11:30 the whole restaurant was basically full. They serve everything in the carts. There's some things that they won't have in the carts which then they will tell you to tick off on the paper to order it.
We ordered steamed beef trip in special sauce ($9.28), steamed rice flour roll with scallops and seaweed ($9.88), deep fried sesame balls ($8.58), deep fried milk custard ($8.58), pork and shrimp dumpling shao mai ($8.38), har gao ($8.38), deep fried taro ($8.38), steamed pork ribs ($7.88). Tea is $1.50 each person
The steamed beef tripe in special sauce had a strong tripe flavour in a good way. You could taste the innards flavour. Some restaurants bleach it and clean it really well so that you can taste it but this place has cleaned it just enough. Flavour was good and I would order this again
Rice roll with seaweed and scallops. There were slices of scallops throughout the rice roll. This rice roll is different from the rice rolls you usually have at dimsum. It's not chewy like the ones you find at other restaurants. Instead it's really smooth and has a slight rice flavour. According to my grandma, this is the way it's meant to be. The ones that are chewy and bouncy is the new way of doing it now. This one is based on personal preference. If you like traditional style, this is the way to go.
Deep fried sesame balls were not too sweet on the inside but the outside was too thick (also not chewy enough) and it wasn't crispy enough outside. We found out later that they have a different kind that's the thinner one. This one is pushed out on carts and not on the sheet so be warned if you are looking for the thin skin one.
The shrimp dumplings or har gao were okay. Lots of shrimp inside and very bouncy but the outside skin was a tad too thick
The taro fried dumpling was not crispy and flaky enough for me. The inside filling was pretty decent
The pork shrimp shao mai dumpling was pretty good. Lots of pork little shrimp which is how it should be. It had a good bite too it and was well flavored
The pork ribs were not bad. Meat was soft and portion was big.
The fried milk dessert was interesting and definitely not what we were expecting. You drink the milk custard that's inside. Outside is crispy but also not hot. Inside was cold as well. Interesting but would only order it once.
Overall dimsum was not bad. They have dishes here you might not find elsewhere. No major faults. Some of the servers pushing the carts can be a bit pushy. They try to sell you the dishes that have been sitting their the longest. Other than that the other servers are really nice and fast. They have servers specifically just to pour tea and get the bill. Would I recommend it? Probably not as none of the dishes stand out. But if you are looking for some solid run of the mill dimsum. Then this place is actually not bad

I went on a breakfast date with my mom and we both ordered french toast slams. We got the original and berry filled ones with the side of hashbrows and mozzarella sticks. Everything was SPOT ON. Denny’s is our favourite place for breakfast dates and they never disappoint. Our server Eddy was very kind and service was very fast. We would definitely recommend Denny’s!

Showed up at 11:15 PM, place was absolutely bustling! Laughed with the host as we were walked towards a booth in the back listening to stories of Denny’s at 3 AM. Then we were greeted by our server, Hans(?), who was such an awesome dude and made great conversation.
I really can’t say much beyond the fact that the vibes were immaculate, service was extremely friendly, and as someone who hasn’t been to Denny’s in over a decade, the food was exactly what we were hoping for at 11:30 PM on a Saturday.

After not visiting Denny’s for over a year, we were happy to find that they still offer a free birthday treat. So, we headed there on a Saturday morning. Judging by the packed parking lot, it’s clear Denny’s remains a popular spot, bustling with customers all enjoying their meals.
Our server was lovely and attentive, adding to the warm atmosphere. Although there was a bit of confusion when we arrived, with some customers who arrived after us being seated first, it didn’t affect our mood. According to the official website, the birthday treat includes a Build Your Own Grand Slam, but we overheard from the next table that Denny’s will deduct the equivalent cost if you choose something else from the menu. That’s a thoughtful way to offer flexibility for customers with dietary needs.
Our breakfast arrived hot and well-presented, and the buttermilk pancakes were soft and buttery—just the thing to kick off a great birthday morning!

I visited new location here it is my first time visiting this location. I had a wonderful breakfast! It was tasty And Donna our server was soooo nice and attentive made sure my coffee cup was never empty which was my favorite part of her service and her smile. And she took special order for me instead serving me cheese steak omelette, she changed to three over-easy eggs cheese steak meal. Thank u! I definitely visit again

Denny’s is always a nice diner to read a book at.
The breakfast with pancakes or French toast are usually solid after a late night of studying.
I probably wouldn’t recommend the eggs Benedict though. The English muffin is soggy and overall it’s not that great flavour wise. For the same price you can get a better eggs Benedict elsewhere.

Came here a bunch of times whenever we are in the area. Usually packed at dinner time and need to wait for a seat. Korean owned so you know service if fast and efficient. The food the pretty much the staple Japanese styled you will get in all Vancouver restaurants. The same goes with the price 😎

If you're in Coquitlam and craving an exceptional sushi experience, look no further than Sushi California. This restaurant offers an impressive variety of menu items that cater to diverse tastes, including some delightful surprises like Korean-style stone rice and creamy mentaiko udon.
The first thing you'll notice is the extensive menu. Whether you're a sushi purist or someone who enjoys exploring different Asian cuisines, there's something here for everyone. The Korean-style stone rice is a must-try, served sizzling hot with a delightful mix of flavors and textures. The creamy mentaiko udon is another standout dish, with perfectly cooked noodles bathed in a rich, creamy sauce that balances umami and spice beautifully.
Every dish is cooked to perfection, showcasing the kitchen's skill and attention to detail. The portions are generous, ensuring you get great value for your money. Despite the high quality, the prices are remarkably reasonable, making it a great spot for both casual lunches and special dinners.
The ambiance is inviting and comfortable, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience.
In summary, Sushi California in Coquitlam is a gem that offers delicious, well-prepared dishes at great prices. With its wide-ranging menu and generous portions, it's a place you'll want to visit again and again.

My absolute favorite place to get sashimi and sushi in the area! I always get the salmon sashimi (sometimes spicy; both are good) and some sort of roll. I order a half order of sashimi for myself, and with the size of the pieces, it's more than enough. They have such a variety of rolls that it becomes the most difficult part of ordering. However, all the options I have tried are amazing! My favorite being the Scallop Asparagus Tempura Roll; highly recommend! The staff here is always super friendly and make the experience great.

I have to say I loved this place until today. Starting with the rap of the rolls that were really lose and each roll was cut super thin to the point that we had to eat the sushi with a fork as ALL THE ROLLS were falling apart. Also the amount of cucumber that they put in our rolls were just crazy and I know it because I always order the same. I am definitely not coming back to this place.

Mixed feelings on this one. We went during happy hour for a friend's birthday as a table of four. Even at the peak during our visit, the restaurant was at max, half full, but they did have a large reservation table of about twenty. The food was good, but the service was SLOW.
They were clearly short-staffed, as the manager was working behind the bar while we were there, but we had to ask other servers to find our waitress twice and went up to the bar once to order our drinks because we had been waiting for so long. That being said, they apologized profusely and comped us free desserts and did explain that they were short staffed. However, if you're offering a happy hour with one dollar oysters in a nice, reputable restaurant, then you should be prepared.
We ordered both off the happy hour menu and the regular menu and there was small tweaks. We would have made to each dish, but overall, a pretty satisfying meal.
We will give them another shot to see if the slow service was a one off.
If you park in the underground and register you license plate at the hotel desk, parking is free.

Stumbled into the perfect happy hour! Buck a Shuck Oysters. $4.50 Beers Nuff' said. Fatima was great. It was very busy with a big birthday party so you could tell they were slammed. But food was great. And waitress went out her way to make rounds and make sure things kept rolling. Food was great 👍

This is our second time visiting Wild Fig and it never changed! Still as good as before. We came back for the $1 oysters during happy hours 4-6pm. Still our favorite.
The server, Gaga, was very accommodating and fun. 5 stars for her excellent service!
We will definitely be back with our family.

The staff is friendly, and the service is fast and excellent. My son usually sticks to solid cheese pizza, but surprisingly, he tried the butter chicken pizza and fell in love. We ended up buying an XL 16" pan pizza for dinner, and the price was pretty reasonable compared to other pizza chains. Excellent service. I recommend it!

The interior is very nice and there is a lot of table space. I think the unique layout and style of restaurant can confuse people who are used to it but the staff are nice. I was there at a busy time so I had to wait 10 minutes before someone took my order. The menu drinks are cute and the presentation of the meals are very nice.
The price is up there so expect to spend when you’re here but the overall atmosphere is nice. It almost feels like a cafe restaurant hybrid. If you’re looking for a different kind of eating experience, this is the place to go.

Korean managed restaurant newly opened. First time i went was a weekday morning. Experience was the best as the young male server recommended drink and food. He came to check out how’s things at right time and i guess not as busy.
The next visit was a weekend and i made the right choice to make reservation as there are many people. Restaurants were full of girls servers but they don’t seem very experienced. They forgot to bring me extra sugar that i asked and ask us to get the bill before we were still eating. The price and environment doesn’t seem to be a fast food restaurant so i didn’t expect to rush customers to pay.
Went third time Friday noon and servers seem very absent minded 😅 asked for an extra share plate twice when i noticed she simply forgot. That is more management problem as well because the manager asked to do something when the servers were trying to help customers ending up two people doing the same tasks when no one taking care of customers.
Tried pistachio latte - a bit pricey with the size of the drink and very sweet
Egg sandwich- bread is toast well with soft inside. So as the egg is cooked very well. Just not enough flavour
Benny is good and chicken is tendered.
I have no complaint with the croffles and price is fair.

First time trying this place. Sounds like it is newly opened. I didn’t have a lot of expectation coming here being my visit was more so out of convenience
Quality - the food quality was okay, but not worth the price. Much of my dishes didn’t have much flavour and at that price you just expect a bit more. I would like to come back for brunch as it seems that’s what they are known for more?
Service - the staff although was friendly when they did interact with us, I felt that they weren’t as attentive. Especially since it wasn’t that busy during our visit (dinner)
The restaurant ambiance was quite nice. Very spacious and futuristic in design

100% HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Came with my family to check out the new location today and it’s safe to say that I was thoroughly impressed. From the drinks to the food, everything was both visually stunning and delicious. My personal favorites were the Chicken Run and the Basil Pistachio pasta. My kids also really liked the pasta. The service here is friendly and efficient as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s looking for a place to dine out.

Bonus points for the giant Minion at the door! The service was great as well. Our server was very attentive and patient with us as we navigated the massive menu. They also have these little robots that come bring you your food.
Lastly, the food was tasty for a reasonable price. The breakfast sandwich was fresh and delicious. I’ll be back for sure!

Cazba Persian Grill express
Location: Lougheed Shopping Centre
9855 Austin Ave #106, Burnaby, BC V4J 1N4
During a recent visit to the Lougheed Shopping Centre, I decided to explore the offerings of the food court and opted to try this restaurant.
Food:
I ordered the Koobideh, a dish featuring two skewers of ground beef accompanied by rice and a grilled tomato. The beef skewers were impressively tender, well-seasoned, and served in a generous portion, striking a commendable balance between flavor and texture. The rice was abundant and flavorful, complementing the dish nicely. The grilled tomato added a welcome layer of acidity, enhancing the overall composition of the meal.
Rating: 9/10
Service:
The service was friendly and efficient. The staff member who assisted me was approachable and courteous, contributing to a positive dining experience.
Rating: 8/10
Ambiance:
Situated within the mall’s food court, the restaurant benefits from a clean and well-maintained environment. The space was inviting, with what appeared to be recent renovations lending a fresh and modern feel. There was an ample supply of seating, and the lighting was bright yet comfortable, making for a pleasant atmosphere amidst the bustle of the food court.
Price:
The pricing was highly competitive, offering excellent value for the portion sizes. It is rare to find such quality and quantity at this price point, particularly in a mall setting.
Verdict:
Overall, this establishment provides a solid dining experience. The combination of flavorful dishes, friendly service, and reasonable prices make it a compelling choice for anyone seeking a satisfying meal. I will certainly return to explore more of their menu offerings.

Had an amazing meal at this Persian restaurant tucked away inside a mall in Vancouver. It had been ages since I last had Ghormeh Sabzi, and it did not disappoint – truly comforting with awesome taste that felt like a hug in a bowl. Being in a mall, the seating is shared, which is pretty standard, but don’t let that deter you. The vibe was still cozy and welcoming. Definitely a gem worth checking out for a taste of authentic Persian cuisine. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!
