Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Park

White Pine Beach is a picturesque lake located on Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Park. During the summer months visitors enjoy swimming in the warm water of Sasamat Lake. There are also good hiking trails and picnic facilities

This Greater Vancouver park has the only inland lake surrounded by mountains that you can get to solely by public transit during the summer months. Access is gained by taking the C26 shuttle bus from Port Moody Station on the Millennium Line. You can get within a 15 minute walk from the beach any time of year with the 181 or 182 bus.

The beach area is sandy and the drop off is gradual making this a perfect spot for swimming or just relaxing on the beach. The water can get quite warm during the summer months which helps make this a very popular destination for locals. The parking lots can fill up quickly. Of course that is not an issue if you are coming by bus.

The surrounding forests are populated with Douglas-fir, western hemlock, western red cedar, and Pacific silver fir adding to the west-coast setting. There is an easy to hike trail that will take you around the entire lake and to a couple of hillside lookouts. You can find a detailed description and map at .

A concession stand open during the summer months means you can always get something to eat without leaving the park.

White Pine Beach Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 Star Rating

5 Star Rating It's easy to get there if you don't have a car. Take the skytrain + bus, and you will be surrounded by nature and an amazing view. Went there on Monday, and it was quiet and just a few people there. Bring you lunch, hang out on the beach, enjoy the water, and if you have kayak or paddle board, you will enjoy it best. There is a short trail around the lake to get to the beach. It has a longer way (left) or the short one (right).

5 Star Rating Located in Belcarra park there are two beach this one is a bigger of two there is a consession food stall not mentioned on maps and hence I have added its videos and images along with menu items kids liked their fries, samsosa, hot choclate, mocha coffee for us. Washrooms were nice and clean with changing rooms and were accessible. Its a bit of a walk from the parking lot. There were ample parking space parking was paid and can be done via an app. The water was cold in the lake during our visit but in Summer I can see this beach getting super busy. Kids had lot of fun building sand castles and there were lots of benches for picnic. Ample garbage and hot coal bins. Over all its totally worth it. Check out videos & images & follow for more.

5 Star Rating White pine Beach is absolutely gorgeous! The water is warm and clean, they have a concession stand there which is a bonus and also you can bring your own things and have picnics or barbecues. My only drawback and disappointment is the expense for parking. I feel like it is making things harder and harder, especially for lower income people. The cost of parking for the day would deter me from going to this park even though I live 40 minutes away.

5 Star Rating Very hard to find parking on weekends in the middle of the day but the lake and beach is so beautiful it’s worth the wait (over an hour for a spot). Great spot for bbq. Sand is mediocre but decently large beach for a lake. The water was clear and great for inflatables and swimming. Want to go back!
