IMAX Sydney Reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 Star Rating

3 Star Rating IMAX, Sydney, World's 3rd largest theatre. It is very spacious and excellent seating inside. Rows and rows of seats, comfy and plenty of footrest. The screen is huge and was lovely to watch our 3D movie, Deep Sea. We were given 3D glasses at the start, and we had to recycle ♻️ them in the end. The movie was supposed yo start at 10 am, but the advertisement continued going till 1015. After that, the doors shut, and we watched the documentary till 1055am. So, around 20 minutes, cut from the movie time. The only complaint I have was with the staff. They were very bossy and over the top. They made us all sit in the corners and said the middle was reserved. We said OK, but after the doors shut, the middle chairs were still empty. But the guy said no and pushed us back to our seats. I didn't see the reason for that, but anyway, because the staff were rudely behaved, 3 stars. Or else the ace was so amazing, and the movie was excellent.

4 Star Rating This was a good experience (as a one time thing), I really don’t think I would do it again. Our session was full, and yet we had heaps of people sat on their phones all the way through, I get that isn’t a thing for the cinema to fix, but given the price you pay, and the fact it’s a single cinema, there could’ve been atleast some policing of distracting phones taking away from our experience. On another note, the concessions were limited and expensive (like most cinemas) but I definitely expected more options, even some hot food could’ve been nice?

3 Star Rating Went to see Wicked on a Sunday arvo. It's an interesting cinema as the entrance is quite narrow with low ceilings and then you go up escalators to end up near the cinema with its massive screen. Otherwise there is nothing, just some lights installation. Weird. Upstairs is a vending machine in case you forgot on your way that you should have bought drinks and popcorn downstairs. The cinema seating is all different. We had side section seats and these did not recline. The movie was great but I reckon we would have had a better experience on Xtreme Screen or VMax at another cinema. Overall, ok venue, if the movie requires the IMAX experience but otherwise not worth it.

4 Star Rating The chair was wide and comfortable, which was nice. Although it’s Sydney’s only IMAX theater, booking tickets wasn’t as difficult as I expected.
