The best French Restaurant in Sydney. Constantly delicious food from Ludo’s kitchen and a great wine list. Very personal service from Xav and the staff in the front of house. You’ll find all the greats of French cuisine on the menu. Book ahead as they’re always busy in this intimate space.

One of my all time favourite! Food, drink and services are among the best in Sydney! Reasonably priced as well. I especially enjoy their French wine selection. Nothing too fancy but absolutely delicious. I’ve tried everything on their menu and I haven’t been disappointed. Amazing little gem in the city. Love it!

Stepping into Bistro Papillon feels like stumbling upon a hidden gem in the heart of Paris. The quaint ambiance, with its warm lighting, and cozy corners, immediately transports you to a charming Parisian bistro.
From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food.
The menu is a delightful journey through classic French cuisine. We started with an order of escargot, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The beef tartare, however, was the star of the show – easily one of the best we’ve had in Sydney.
For mains, the beef bourguignon was a masterpiece. The meat was incredibly tender, the sauce rich and deeply flavorful, and the accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked. The duck confit was another highlight, with the skin beautifully crisp and the meat meltingly tender.
The wine list is extensive and thoughtfully curated, with a fantastic selection of French wines to complement the menu.
To finish, we shared the apple tart, and tried their lovely selections of digestifs.
Bistro Papillon is a true gem. It offers an authentic French dining experience with exceptional food, impeccable service, and a charming atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a taste of Paris in Sydney.

A Magical Evening at Bistro Papillon – A Taste of France in Sydney
Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Bistro Papillon transported us straight to the charming streets of Paris with its warm ambiance, attentive service, and truly exquisite French cuisine. From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for a special experience.
The menu was a delightful showcase of French culinary tradition, and each dish was prepared with remarkable attention to detail. We started our evening with a serving of fresh mussels bathed in a luscious, aromatic broth, accompanied by crispy French fries and rustic bread – a perfect combination of flavors and textures.
For the main course, we indulged in two classic French dishes: the Boeuf Bourguignon, a rich and hearty slow-cooked beef stew with velvety mashed potatoes, and the Mushroom Risotto, which was creamy, flavorful, and topped with a generous dusting of Parmesan. Each bite was a testament to the chef’s skill and dedication to authentic French cooking.
To end this unforgettable meal, we had the Crème Brûlée, a flawless rendition of the beloved dessert. The caramelized sugar crust was perfectly crisp, giving way to the smooth, decadent custard beneath—an absolutely divine way to conclude our dining experience.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere of Bistro Papillon played a huge role in making this night so memorable. The intimate lighting, rustic decor, and warm hospitality made us feel like we had stepped into a cozy Parisian bistro.
If you’re in Sydney and looking for an authentic taste of France, Bistro Papillon is a must-visit. We cannot wait to return!

Stopped in for a pint at The Bavarian after a walk visiting downtown. Great selection of beers and more specifically German beers. I’m a big fan of Paulaner and got a large 1L stein with a pretzel. Both were delicious and hit the spot. Servers were great and helpful. Beer and food came out fast as well. It was a fairly quiet time of day however. Will be sure to visit again when returning to Sydney!

If you’re looking for an authentic German-style bar and restaurant, this spot is a must-visit! The menu offers a variety of delicious German dishes—think bratwurst, schnitzels, sausages , and hearty sides. Pair your meal with their impressive selection of German beers, from crisp lagers to rich dunkel brews.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it perfect for a casual night out. However, if you’re seeking a quieter setting for a celebration or simply want to unwind with a drink, I highly recommend going on a Sunday. Weekdays tend to be bustling, but Sundays offer a more relaxed vibe, allowing you to truly savor the experience.
Whether you’re a fan of German cuisine, great beer, or both, this place delivers a fantastic mix of flavors and ambiance. Cheers!

The lady at the front desk of this restaurant is the best I’ve ever seen in any CBD spot. She’s so friendly and patient, always greeting customers with positive energy. We come here very often was half because of her—she’s that awesome. (I should’ve left this review before Christmas, she deserves a killer year-end bonus:)
And aside from her amazing service, the Hot Buffalo chicken wings here are to die for.
This place is fire and more people need to know about it

I couldn't have decided on a better place to take my beloved for her birthday.

Absolutely amazing fine dining from all elements! Food, service, interiors are all perfect. Cannot recommend Toko enough if you’re looking for beautiful food. I’m not usually a fan of oysters but the dressing they use is to die for

Well executed experience with no flaws in food, service or atmosphere… but also no particular standouts either.
Scampi nigiri was greatly hyped but fell a bit short on taste. All the sushi was above average but not memorable. Lamb cutlets were quite tender but relied heavily on the accompanying sauce.
The food would be an instant recommend at normal prices, but the value proposition did not make itself apparent with the dishes we ordered.

We opted for the Tasting menu, and the food is exceptional! The atmosphere is wonderful, and the service is fantastic. We had the good fortune to be seated in front of the kitchen, which is such a great experience. I highly recommend!!! Had such a great night, Absolutely 10/10, we will be back for sure

Toko Restaurant in Sydney offers a contemporary Japanese izakaya experience that artfully combines Australia's fresh produce with modern culinary techniques. The tasting menu is a culinary journey through Toko's signature dishes, each thoughtfully paired with wines that enhance the flavors.
The menu begins with freshly shucked Pacific oysters from Tasmania, dressed in a house-made tozasu sauce infused with Haku Vodka, providing a refreshing and briny start.
Next, the seared salmon maki features chili mayonnaise, avocado, and a unique squid ink tenkasu coating, adding a delightful crunch and depth of flavor.
The grilled scallops are a standout, complemented by pickled apple and jalapeño, creating a harmonious balance of sweetness and heat.
For the main course, the robata grill offers succulent options like lamb cutlets and wagyu striploin, each grilled to perfection and showcasing the quality of the ingredients.
Throughout the meal, the wines offered are meticulously selected to complement each dish, enhancing the overall dining experience. The ambiance is intimate, with dim lighting and a spacious wooden interior, making it ideal for both business and personal gatherings.
In summary, Toko's tasting menu is a well-curated exploration of modern Japanese cuisine, with each dish and wine pairing thoughtfully designed to delight the palate.

Excellente dinner at the Toko restaurant. We had the chef’s specials dishes for 2 people. The experience was really nice and tasty we just wanted a little bit more sushis but anyway it was the best Japanese cuisine experience in Sydney so far.
We highly recommend.

We stopped in for a drink during happy hour and managed to snag the window table. The gentleman serving us was really friendly and helpful. We tried a grapefruit margarita and a lychee martini. Both drinks were well made, sweet without being overly so. A lovely place to stop for a drink. They have an outdoor patio too!

Cosy bar, great cocktails, friendly staff.
Came for the happy hour drinks and tried every one, all of them good size and delicious. Bartender was very welcoming and personable.
Could do with a better outdoor seating area like next door as standing around barrels isn’t ideal.
Would happily come again and relax on the balcony with a cocktail.

If you are a fan of whisky, stay clear of this place. While the selection may look great on the photos, reality is much worse… You will be paying very premium price for whiskies that already aired out so much in the bottles that they barely have the taste they should…
The atmosphere is great, but that’s about it. Also the servers were extremely slow even though the place was half empty.
Would not recommend

We came for dinner for our twentieth wedding anniversary having got engaged here twenty three years ago. We were seated at a window table just before sunset. Beautiful view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge as the sun was setting. Our servers (Matisse and Jannes(?)) were fantastic, incredibly helpful and friendly but weren’t overbearing, clearly very well trained waiters. I believe it was a trial shift for Jannes but we would never had known if we were not informed as we were leaving (hire this man, he was great!)
Had delicious cocktails then ordered the signature tasting menu. Everything was delicious, but the scallops were next level delicious.
All in all a fabulous night, we couldn’t have asked for better to celebrate our milestone and look forward to returning.

Dining at O Bar in Sydney was a memorable experience. The panoramic views alone are worth the visit, offering a stunning backdrop of the city skyline that added to the ambiance. But what truly set the evening apart was the staff’s genuine warmth and attention to detail. They made me feel exceptionally welcomed, going above and beyond by leaving a personalized note at my table and even surprising me with a beautifully presented dessert.
The menu was refined, with each dish crafted to balance bold flavors with elegant presentation. My main course was perfectly cooked, and the flavors were well thought out and distinctive. The cocktail selection was also impressive, with unique flavors that complemented the meal.
While the dishes and views were captivating, it was the small, thoughtful gestures from the staff that left a lasting impression.
O Bar is a place where you feel like more than just a customer.
For an upscale dining experience with a personal touch, I highly recommend O Bar Dining!

Had an absolutely wonderful dinner here. Sometimes places that have exceptional views may lack in food and/or service, but not this place!! We did the three course silver dining experience and it was worth every penny! The rotating view was incredible, the food was absolutely delicious, and the services from Markam and Theis were exceptional. We got to see the sunset which was just lovely. Highly recommend this place and will definitely go back!! Thanks for a wonderful dinner out on the town!!!

Down an alleyway, opposite Felix, is this little gem. It's all about shared plates. The hummus was delicious & the octopus was nice & spicy. There could have been a larger serve of the focaccia. The ladies serving were a well trained team. You can sit out eating under the stars or the awning comes out for inclement weather. Unlike Felix, the bill was very reasonable.

MOST HONEST REVIEW OF ASH ST CELLAR 2024
It is snack sized. Don’t bring a large group unless you’re spending a lot.
Scallops: 7/10 great flavour
Bread: 5/10
Beetroot: 7.5/10 very good
Wild Boar Ragu: 6.5/10 It was cooked well but the seasoning wasn’t what it could be. The Wild Boar flavour was over powered by aged Parmesan.
Pork Cutlet (Milanese) - 8/10 Very good, although a lot of bone.
Market fish 6/10 - it was something like $36 and it’s just one fillet of John Dory overcooked, for that price there shouldn’t be any faults and it should be clever and creative.
The Chicken with eggplant and Raisin: 5/10 this dish wasn’t thought through and get rushed to get on the plate. Would none order
Mb9+ Wagyu rump cap: It was cooked medium rare, Any chef that knows his steak knows that this cut is tough as nails at medium rare and needs to be cooked to medium. Lack of cooking knowledge and amateur mistake, we couldn’t eat this dish, it wasn’t edible which is a problem cause it is expensive. The waiters saw us complain and turned the blind eye… that borderline ruined the experience.
Desserts were good but not great, first one was a panacotta with just some pistachio and literal honey over the top which anyone could do at home.
Meringue Eton mess: Was nice and refreshing, Would recommend order.
Lowdown: it’s good for buisness people who don’t know about food.
Not good for large groups or people who like dislike small portions.
Will TrueCook - 8 months ago
Had the $75 chef’s tasting menu tonight and it was just okay. The highlight was the cacio e pepe arancini and the grilled focaccia with the hummus. Sadly the mains (chicken and pasta) were mediocre, nothing too special especially at the price point I was expecting to be wow’d. For dessert, they served panna cotta with a sprinkle of pistachios and literal honey. My friends said they enjoyed it and it reminded them of a soft serve but to me it was not very well thought out, literally tasted like yogurt with honey (which can be made at home).
However, service was quite good considering we were in a big group. If the opportunity ever came up I would go again for their à la carte menu and give them another go.

When you come in to the restaurant it looks amazing, it’s huge. They clearly specialize in ducks because there is so so many of them.
To start we had some beef puffs, they where lacking in flavor, they where my least liking dish.
We also had pork and prawn shu mai dumpling, they were the best iv ever had! Hands down.
The Xiaolongbao was amazing. I loved the dipping sauce of ginger and vinegar was perfect!
We then had half of peaking duck! It was so juicy and cooked to perfection,
We the. Had morning glory veggies. They were also cooked with lots of flavour. Very mild.
It’s not the cheapest food, as China town is not too far, however the food we did have was amazing!!!!

A Cantonese-style restaurant selling dim sums but giving off gatsby vibes — a very interesting dining experience!
Dim sums are good while as the other dishes are quite average. Stir fried morning glory was overcooked and the roasted duck was too dry. Loved the stir fried shredded brussel sprouts and Mr Wong’s special fried rice though.
Overall, a great place for gathering with a delightful ambience!

Absolutely delicious Asian food - the dim sum are off the scale divine. Brilliant service. Fabulous non alcoholic cocktails. And a brilliant atmosphere. And gosh that kitchen crew put in a shift!! It was utterly delicious dinner and we would eat here again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much 🙏

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Mr. Wong in Sydney, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The food was simply outstanding. We started with the duck pancakes, which were rich, flavourful, and perfectly paired. The crispy pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth delicious—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fried rice was to die for—perfectly seasoned and packed with flavour. For dessert, the deep-fried ice cream in butterscotch was the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was the thoughtful and attentive service. The servers made sure our cups were never empty, and after mentioning that our meal was a belated wedding gift, the lovely staff surprised us with a personal touch—writing "Congrats Lovebirds" on our dessert. It's these small, thoughtful details that set Mr. Wong apart.
Every dish was a delight, and we can honestly say it was one of the best Chinese meals we’ve ever had. We couldn’t fault a single thing. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Sydney, Mr. Wong is an absolute must-visit. We'll definitely be back!

I was really looking forward to visiting this bar and loved the atmosphere, design, and decor. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, but they were extremely busy. I waited for over an hour for a non-alcoholic drink, which I had to follow up on three times. Meanwhile, everyone at my table received their drinks before me, even though they ordered cocktails, which I assumed would take longer to prepare. We also ordered nachos, and unfortunately, the guacamole lacked flavor. When my drink finally arrived, it was disappointing—if you don’t drink alcohol, I’d strongly recommend avoiding the Lyres Paloma. The management should reassess their weekend operations and consider adding more bartenders to handle the volume of customers.

Loved this place! Drinks, food and service was A++ but my only issue was how hot it was… we were all sweating up a storm. And also the state of the restroom… super dark shared bathroom near the bar, and it really needed a wipe down. Definitely will visit again though!
