5 Star Rating Had a wonderful night at the Rockpool Bar…walk-ins only and we sat at the bar. Morad was our bar tender for the evening and our bar bill exceeded the food bill. Job well done Morad! His recommendations were spot on and he steered us in the right direction. Thanks. Tried a number of wines and the 6hr cooked negroni which was pretty special. The Hanky Funky cocktail with raspberry dust on the outside of the glass was also very special. Summary of our meal: prawn taco…yes please; anchovy bruschetta tasty, and the beef tostada with jalapeño was four or five good mouthfuls of sheer enjoyment. We had to try the much lauded Wagyu beef burger, with hand cut fat fries…and a glass of Morgan gamay … the burger really really good yet seemingly simple but without a doubt one of the best burgers you’ll eat. And to top it all off was the pavlova standing tall and proud and dwarfing the plate…so good. The bar is a really good option if you don’t want to do the full restaurant thing. Top marks here…highly recommended. The staff make it extra special and the atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed…loved it!

4 Star Rating I chose Rockpool for my valentine day dinner from my last great business experience in the Rockpool group dining restaurant. Overall, their food quality never let me down and I especially impressed by their selections of the dry aged. Just a little drama at the reception when we were 30min late and I was acknowledged and totally for the 2 hour seating policy from the booking time, except the senior staff told me to take a bar seat if my partner can’t arrive in 15 min. I mean that’s not very considerable request if she had know the public traffic situation on the day. Apart from that, I would still regard this was a beautiful dine-in night.

4 Star Rating Returned here for a second time because I had positive memories of my first dining experience a few years ago. The atmosphere is grand and service was quick and attentive. However, the steaks weren’t as amazing as my memory served. Same with the sides; they fell a little flat of my expectations. They’re not bad by any means but for the price I would have expected to be a little more impressed. However, oysters were good and plum sorbet dessert was refreshing. One minor gripe - last time I came, they gave my brother a free dessert for his birthday. Doesn’t seem like they do that anymore since this was a few years back so was a bit disappointed when my partner did not receive one for his birthday.

5 Star Rating Came here for a late mid-week business lunch. The service was great, we didn't have to wait too long for our entrees, then mains. The good was amazing. I'm fussy with my steak and typically am disappointed. When I order rare, it comes out overcooked. Here, it was perfection. So tender, flavoursome and cooked as it should be. The sides were a delight - mac and cheese was a surprise, was so good! Definitely a 10/10 overall - thank you!

5 Star Rating We had a work lunch here for a medium sized group! The service was great and the self-bbq of meats was fun and very tasty. Only downside is that with the BBQs all on, the air conditioning needs to be cranked up as we all ended up in uncomfortably warm.

4 Star Rating We arrived at our booking on time and was promptly seated. Staff were attentive in terms of keeping our table clear of empty plates and ordered being brought out quickly after ordering. There was quite a large selection in the buffet option we opted for. While you're ordering different types of cut, you couldn't really tell the difference between some of them. You can order your meat plain or with seasoning but seasoning was more like drizzles of what you order and not marinated, some might or might not like that. Overall, a satisfying experience.

4 Star Rating The staffs are friendly and accommodating they are not rude unlike what the other reviews had said. The environment was good and not smoky! The food was fresh and so good specially the wagyu! The salmon was so fresh and so delicious! There's a timer on the ipad to let you know how many minutes are left to order. Another thing is that, you must book a reservation if you don't want to miss the night eating here. Overall, it was a good buffet experience.

5 Star Rating I've dined here before so know you'll always get a varied and great wine list. What impressed me with a recent visit (after too long of a gap between visits) is how good the food is - compliments to the chef. Some real stand outs including the terrine, fried scamorza, schnitzel, steak and peppercorn sauce. Even the bread was so tasty. The Madeleines are the cherry on top and are so good. Look forward to visiting again.

5 Star Rating Great Christmas dinner here with BYO for free! Reasonable prices but great variety of seafood and meats. As starters, we got oysters that had good meat inside. The potato croquets tasted amazing, too. The steak was nicely medium rare with amazing colours. Finally, finishing with the affogato is a must! Hot espresso and liquor over a gelato ice cream. It couldn't get any better. Highly recommend this place.

5 Star Rating An Exquisite Cantonese Experience with Exceptional Service & unbelievably great food at Spice Temple Sydney last night. Spice Temple Restaurant in Sydney offers a remarkable dining experience that elevates Cantonese cuisine to new heights. The dishes are beautifully prepared, showcasing a vibrant array of flavours and textures that are both out of the ordinary and utterly delicious. Each plate reflects meticulous attention to detail, from the presentation to the balance of spices, making every bite a delight. The ambience of the restaurant complements the culinary experience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for a special evening out. What truly sets Spice Temple apart is its exceptional food and customer service. We shared many entrees in the larger size and three main courses for the six of us. I lined how the entree size can be small or larger which works so well depending on your table size. Every dish was outstanding. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. To make it even better, they surprised us with three delightful cupcakes adorned with candles to celebrate our January birthdays, a gesture that truly exemplifies how good customer service is done. This thoughtful touch added a personal flair to our evening, making it even more memorable. Overall, Spice Temple is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in exquisite Cantonese food while enjoying top-notch service. Enjoy! Veronica

5 Star Rating We’ve been coming here on and off since their doors opened (from memory, at least 7+ years for us) and it’s because it’s that memorable each time. From the dark red ambience to the utmost professional service to the beautifully cooked food, you can’t go wrong. Menu has stayed relatively the same over the years but I do miss the mango milk pudding dessert!

5 Star Rating We had lunch at Spice Temple Sydney and enjoyed the experience. It wasn’t too busy at lunchtime, which made for a relaxed dining atmosphere. The space is nice—we loved the dark and moody vibe, though slightly brighter lighting (maybe 10% more) would make it a bit more family-friendly for kids and elders. That said, it’s definitely a perfect spot for a date! The food was great, and we appreciated the effort they put into incorporating different spices into the dishes. Highly recommend the green mango chicken salad! The service was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we’ll be back

5 Star Rating I was very impressed with both the food and service here. The steak was absolutely superb—truly outstanding! The cocktails were excellent, and the side dishes were just as good. It’s definitely worth a visit. Although the prices are high, they are well worth every penny. I had the Wagyu steak, which was tender and cooked to perfection. The salad looked simple, but it was incredibly fresh, with crisp vegetables and a deliciously well-mixed dressing. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy, but not overly rich. The staff provided attentive and thoughtful service, making the experience even more enjoyable.

It’s not pretentious & the staff are really friendly and down to earth. The quality of ingredients is an incredibly high standard and every dish followed, cooked to perfection. Steaks were outstanding. The sauces absolutely on point & we could not fault anything. The cookie skillet was homemade and perfect to cap off a memorable dinner. I also work at a restaurant and was astounded at the range of wines on offer. I opted for a beautiful 2012 Bordeaux which was decanted after presentation. The meat options were phenomenal along with the starters and sides. You can’t fault any of the food or service, our waitress was extremely good at her job and made the experience even better. 5 Star Rating A beautifully appointed modern but authentic style Japanese restaurant that I happened across while staying at the Sebel Hotel next door during the lead up to the Sydney Marathon. The staff were extremely friendly and polite which has been my usual experience in both Japan and Australia. I must admit when I ordered the grilled lamb cutlet for $28.00 I was expecting some sort of side with it. I ordered the agadashi (a favourite of mine) as an entree. Both dishes were superb in both presentation and taste but I was still hungry. I then ordered the tempura prawns and vegetables and again, just perfect🥰 I enjoyed a refreshing ‘Moho’ mocktail with my meal (no alcohol leading up to the marathon 😊). The meal was expensive but for lovers of fine food I thought it was worth it. I’d certainly return❣️🥢🍱🍲🍤

5 Star Rating Been visiting Azuma over the years and came to try their Kaiseki at their new location on Phillip St. Staff were attentive and friendly, and the new layout was open and inviting. The course was well presented, and can clearly see the attention to detail on the small dishes. The journey also included the theme of the Japanese elemental colours and the flavours were well thought out. The fish were also cooked perfectly. The only minor things was the broth in the soup dishes were slightly salty and the zenzai red bean was a tad sweet for my preference. However the flavour profiles were there. If you want to experience a genuine Japanese cuisine in Sydney using some Australian ingredients, I do recommend you to try. Will be back in the future 👍😋

4 Star Rating Not too much of an atmosphere, compared to other Japanese places. It is located upstairs in the Chifley building, so it’s not super accessible. However, it is definitely a bit more upper class (but in a simple way??) I don’t have very good images but the food here was decently nice. It does feel like the cut of meat/ seafood was better quality than other Japanese places. However, the service wasn’t as great as expected for the price point. The food here was VERY expensive. Like more than normal high end restaurants (but they have the atmosphere and service). Maybe I just couldn’t appreciate it, but I think we literally got 2 of each for a salmon nigiri and scallop nigiri, and two salmon avocado hand rolls, then a bowl of rice and a small honey soy chicken dish. We didn’t get any drinks and the bill topped $100. Food was good but not good enough for the price, and service was “normal”. For the expectation of this being a “nice” place, it lacked the ambience and vibe I would hope for. I’ve rated it 4/5 for the quality of the food, but everything else was probably 3/5.

Reviews

4 Star Rating Great spot for a reasonably priced work lunch. Very tasty sandwiches using freshly baked bread. This is a spot I'll be returning to often especially as it has many options for sandwiches, wraps, quiches and salads.

3 Star Rating $12.50 for a large and you can’t fill up the salad container ? Plus one tiny piece of chicken Snitzel. I don’t mind paying the increased prices but don’t short change the quantity as well. Pffft last time. Such a shame as the flavours are good
