A beautiful park in a beautiful place with lots of activities
Rio de Janeiro is not just a city of beaches and the Carnival. There are plenty of parks to explore too. Parque Garota de Ipanema is one that definitely needs to be looked at since it was named for a famous song by the same name.
The Parque Garota de Ipanema, found near the beach and in Ipanema in Rio, is named for a song which was made famous by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais. The song, The Girl from Ipanema, was inspired by an actual girl in Ipanema. Her name was Heloisa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto. She was considered one of the most attractive girls in the area and is now famous thanks to the song.
The Parque Garota de Ipanema is one of the go to places for those in Rio de Janeiro who enjoy sports. There are lots of bike paths to cycle down and there is a roller skating rink to make skating that much more enjoyable. The skating rink has probably got the most beautiful view of all the skating rinks in th world. With a total area of two and a half heactares, there is plenty of space for everyone who wants to enjoy a little time out in nature.
It is not all about sports and picnics though, there is also a stage. There are often performances by local bands here which are typically free for all. Paid events do take place as well, so check the local newspapers and notice boards to see what is on at Parque Garota de Ipanema during your stay in Rio de Janeiro.
The Parque Garota de Ipanema also caters to children. There are a number of playground items in the park such as a see-saw. This makes it a lot easier to keep your little ones busy while you have a bit of a time out on the grass nearby.
The Parque Garota de Ipanema is a beautifully landscaped park with something for everyone. From bike paths and skating rinks to a children's playground, this is definitely a park that every visitor to Rio de Janeiro should take the time to come and visit.

Parque Garota de Ipanema Reviews

out of 5 It's more of a square than a park, largely neglected. There are viewpoints, but after climbing the first one and meeting homeless people washing themselves, I gave up on the second one.
Through the grounds you can quite to the Arpoador beach.

Parque Garota de Ipanema means Girl From Ipanema Park. Girl From Ipanema was a song that won a Grammy in 1965.
We entered that park from Rue Francisco Otaviano street, where it has a few horses and more inside the park, with the police.
The park has direct access to Arpoador beach and Diabo beach. It was their holiday and we didn’t stay long to explore, other than to the beaches and soon left: both were so packed!

It's completely renewed and safe nowadays.

I don`t think this park connects to Copacabana if you head east, we tried meandering through just before sunset and it got a bit sketchy, there were hardly any people once you climbed up the path a bit and you started feeling less than 100% comfortable. At the bottom of the park near the gates there is an area for people to perform and much busier and that was ok but I would not really wonder around the park too far.

Good views. The ramp going up the hill is steep.

Ipanema Beach is just a short walk from Ipanema/General Osório. Exit the station and walk diagonally across the square to the southwest corner and angle left (south) down Rua Teixeira de Melo to the beach then follow the beach to your left all the way to the end next to the rocky outcrop.
