Delicious oysters, good food as expected for a place like this— staff were fast, but service was a bit slow, and more so when it got busy, but really enjoyed the morning right as it opened, when the place was still quiet. The crowds build up fast though, so keep that in mind.
Cozy atmosphere, plenty of choices for oysters, conveniently situated and easy to find under Grand Central. Great for a lunch meeting situation.

Food overall was quite mid. One thing to note was that the salad was decent. The prawn was plump and had a bouncy, tasty texture to it.
The New England clam chowder was quite salty and honestly, it tasted very similar to a canned clam chowder from the grocery store.
For the stores most popular item, the oyster pan roast, it tasted exactly the same as the clam chowder but less salty. It had 3 oysters in it and honestly, the meal felt too creamy when both the New England clam chowder and the pan roast are ordered. The pan roast didn’t taste like anything special and didn’t have a good wow factor to me.
Moving onto the service, our server didn’t seem very attentive. We got our water filled maybe 2 times throughout the whole meal and we were left with no water quite often.
Overall, it seemed like Grand Central Oyster Bar is a place with a great atmosphere, though it really fits the needs of a tourist which is a nice vibe and cool location. Wouldn’t fully recommend the food.

September 2024:Several years ago we had an incredible dinner here, but for some reason it did not quite live up to the memories. The New England clam chowder was good but not great. Last time I loved the Washington State oysters. They had three varieties of them here on this visit, they definitely had a distinct flavor from New England oysters but not quite the blow away flavor I remembered from last time. The service was fast and efficient, but the bench seats were so worn out that they were uncomfortable. The chairs were much better.

Great oyster selection! We sat at the counter and ordered the specials (available until 5 pm). The Oyster Po’ Boy was delicious as well as the fried fish tacos!

Located inside Grand Central
Station, the gateway to Manhattan, the legendary oyster bar 'Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant' boasts over 100 years of history. Although there is a branch in Japan, I finally made it to the original. From opening to closing, the place is always bustling with energy. As for the oysters, no words are needed. They were absolutely delicious!! We even tried raw clams for the first time, and they were incredible!
The interior, with its extensive use of tiles, exudes the charm of old-school America. To top it off, the spaghetti alle vongole was amazing too. I left with a full stomach and total satisfaction.

I’ve been here a few times while visiting NYC. I’ve enjoyed both breakfast and lunch. The menu options are vast, including several vegetarian options. The food is always delicious and the staff always friendly and welcoming. The service is quick, so you don’t have to wait around forever for your food even with a party of six people.
I love the location and the restaurant has a very cool vibe. Lots of windows and a large bar area, high ceilings and bright colored walls. A fun place for all ages.

I’ve gone several times but this last time was meh
The kitchen was very slow, the food took a lot of time to arrive, the order of my husband arrived with the wrong item and had to wait a lot, his food came after I’ve almost finished mine. I must highlight that the servers had a good service, only the food was very slow.
The hot chocolate drink is a must! Would return for the chocolate drink but not for the food.
The place had a good atmosphere

Classic New York layout and atmosphere here. Wonderful service. Serves plenty of business-goers for breakfast before they begin the day around the buildings and also those looking for a quick shot of coffee. We had breakfast here and in particular the eggs set - was well done overall though nothing too fantastic I would say. Very American style and a good decent one at a pretty reasonable price. Alfresco dining also available. It can get pretty noisy indoors as well due to the morning crowd. Located within Grand Central Terminal and very visible once you exist via 42nd Street. Heard their waffles are great too; will be back to try in the future and maybe for lunch!

I’ve been dining at Pershing Square since it opened in the late ’90s, and it’s still one of my go-to spots, even now, when I no longer live in the NYC area. Conveniently located across from Grand Central Station, I find myself stopping in not just when I have a train to catch, but whenever I’m in the area. The menu may be limited, but I see that as a focus on quality over quantity. They always have a great wine selection, and the service is consistently attentive. Sure, I could go to ‘fancier’ places, but what keeps me coming back is the welcoming staff, the excellent food, and the attention to detail that Pershing Square is known for. I truly hope they’re around for as long as I am.

Last full day in NYC for Brekkie. Manager who took us to table recognised our accent was Scottish made a joke and was very nice so good start. Our waiter took a while to come to us never brought us water which we asked for. Food was very good. Asked waiter for a beer but never came. Decided to ask for bill. Gave 10% smallest tip over full week. 5 stars if waiter bothered a bit more

Been a member of the Yale Club for 30 years. Going there is like coming home as you know almost all the staff for a long long time. What’s better is they know you and it just makes it the most welcoming place. Over the years I’ve watched the dress code become more and more relaxed, which is helpful sometimes if you’re not wearing a suit or tie, but if you’re going there, please understand that, although they allow sneaker-like soles ,track sneakers, and sneakers like that and gym attire, etc. etc. are absolutely prohibited and collared shirts are a must and please check your coats and bags. Specially this time of year when it’s very busy and the lounge on the second floor gets crowded. And finally, it’s a very special place, so try and dress and act accordingly and you’ll have the best time!

We stayed for a couple of nights and had such a great experience. The staff was very polite and attentive especially Juan in front desk went above and beyond to help with whatever we needed. Room was in excellent condition and facilities are great. Also, the location is very convenient because it offers easy access to many places in town. The atmosphere in the club gives you the sense that you are like at home. Highly recommended.

Parking is tough. It's at the MetLife building (nee PanAm building) right at Grand Central Station.

The Yale Club is an extraordinary place that offers a perfect blend of elegance, tradition, and modern comfort. The facilities are top-notch, from the well-appointed rooms to the fantastic dining options. The Rooftop Dining Room is a personal favorite, with stunning views and an impressive menu. The staff is incredibly professional and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. It’s the ideal setting for both business and relaxation, with a range of amenities that cater to every need. The Yale Club truly embodies excellence—I highly recommend it to members and guests alike!

Really excellent. I ate at the bar and want to shout out G who was really great at introducing the food and making my party feel welcome. The atmosphere is excellent — staff and patrons are having a great time and the decor is authentic. I would come back with friends on a future visit to NYC if I wanted them to have a good time and a good steakhouse experience.

We ordered 2 steaks(medium-rare), a steak fry, a mushroom and a mashed potato for 2 adults and 1 teenager. Amount of food was enough and tasty was so good with crispy and soft. But the atmosphere is a bit crowded.

How does a restaurant of this caliber employ such an unprofessional waiter? Several items we requested never arrived. Does this place only pour the first glass of wine? We waited over 20 minutes with empty glasses, and in the end, we poured it ourselves. When the waiter saw us, he had the audacity to smile and ask us to wait for him to pour it next time. Are you kidding me?
Look, I get it maybe he was busy, and the space we were seated in was tight, making it harder for him to maneuver. I was willing to let that slide. However, what completely crossed the line was when he leaned on my clothes, which was hanging on my chair, while celebrating a birthday at the next table. I looked at him multiple times, but he avoided eye contact. And the fact that his greasy hands touched my clothes? That was infuriating.
This waiter looked like the youngest among the staff, and it seems like he needs to get his act together. Please, assign capable staff to all tables instead of reserving inexperienced ones for seats that feel like they’re meant only for people of color.
I still left an 18% tip, consoled only by the fact that the food was good. But frankly, the service was unacceptable.

Have dined at the old location a couple of times, which was down the street from Capital Grille's new location here at 200 Park Avenue. They did a beautiful job renovating what was an old pizza place into a stunning steakhouse setting. Today, we met some friends at the bar after work and had a fantastic time. The place was unsurprisingly packed. We'll definitely be returning for a full meal the next time!

Nice secret bar in Grand Central area. I just have few hours meeting up friend who works near by so it is not a lot of bar around because the area is mostly office. It took me walking 2-3 rounds to find this place but when I got in it was very crowded. No space to sit at that time so my friend and I just stand at the bar. Looks like lot of people don't want to go back home right after work so they just come to hang out here.
Drink is good, confirm by my friend who is martini lover :) So I recommended.

So the menu is more interesting than the food and surprisingly the sushi (crispy salmon roll) was the standout. Nice touch serving salted edamame w drinks. The wine list is ok, tho I'd steer clear of the craft cocktails..too sweet. Nice service, very loud until the after work crowd dissipated a bit.

I almost cried tears of joy as I sank my teeth into their everything bagel with white fish, egg, cheese, tomato omg 😭💖 we also got another plain bagel with blueberry cream cheese schmear and it did NOT disappoint 😋 we had the bagels delivered for breakfast cuz we just landed the day before and were so tired but it’s so worth the additional cost as a tourist who is there for limited time. Would recommend!!!

I got the classic with scallion schmear and bacon on a sesame bagel. I’ll say everything inside the bagel is great! The eggs are thin and not overcooked, the bacon is thick and crispy and the schmear is perfect! But I came for the bagel and it was disappointing. It doesn’t taste fresh and doesn’t have that nice chewiness like a New York bagel should. I can get a better bagel from CTown or Key Foods (local grocery store).

Ordered everything bagel with chilli oil cream cheese. They have a large variety of different cream cheese flavors, however, the bagel itself is lacking flavor. Bagel tasted burnt and unseasoned. This place did not deliver basic bagel concept

Their breakfast buffet is top-notch, and the wait is quick! This place runs like a well-oiled machine, thanks to the super-efficient staff. You can be in and out in under five minutes—perfect for busy mornings!
Lunch can get a bit hectic with the crowds, but the staff’s impressive speed keeps your wait time to pay under five minutes. It’s a lively atmosphere, and you’ll be ready to tackle your day in no time!
One suggestion: it would be even better if they offered sriracha sauce to spice things up!
However, a minor criticism is the pricing; for instance, a small box of sushi costs $7.50 but has jumped to $9. A little adjustment there would make the experience even better!

This is one of those food hall kinds of places with lots of variety inside, built to deliver fast food for the people working in the area. They have pre-made, prepackaged, and also assembly food.
The prepackaged food has some options that are more perishable than others. For example, the mochi I got was already moldy when I opened it.
Pre-made hot food has a good selection, same as cold food. You can find steak, chicken, noodles, and lots of mixes. However, if you come at an off time, the food will have been sitting there and getting overcooked on the hot plate.
Assembly food includes stations at the back of the store has options like udon noodle soup, fried rice, and the like. You pick proteins and vegetables to go with a generic base. It's inoffensive, ultimately just fills you up, but is nothing super amazing.
Overall, this is a lunch staple spot for some people, but I would prefer to spend my lunch hour somewhere else.

There is a station for freshly made sandwiches where you can get egg sandwiches
A station for prepared hot food, fruits, vegetables, oatmeal and a juicing bar. If you are there don’t miss trying their peanut butter wraps!

The salads lacked flavour and the lavash seemed dried out.
I would go back only for the mixed grill plate of meat.

I was a guest at a very enjoyable business lunch here yesterday. And just now reading a note from the owners I was intrigued that a differentiator about Pera is its Turkish connection. I spent a week many years ago in southern Turkey and just fell in love with it, its people and the cuisine. It is a beautifully laid out restaurant and the service was pleasant. I enjoyed the meze sampler we had as appetizers and the flavors seemed to have a spin on them making them different from many of the kind of 'vanilla' Med restaurants in town. I had a really good seared Scottish salmon over risotto and enjoyed how perfect it was---at least to my taste---crunchy, flavorful, surface, tender, juicy in between (see photo).

Good service. Typical old grumpy waiter that gets more grumpy when you say you're not ordering any drinks. 1.5 inch thick ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare and soft as butter. While it was hot the fat seemed to melt in your mouth. Broccoli side was good.

Bobby Van’s is tucked away off of Hemsley Walk, and the entrance is art deco but reasonable unassuming.
But it has a special place in my heart. Many years ago I came back into the city after a long work day. Most everything around Grand Central was closed, but I stopped by and found the bar at Bobby Van’s busy and LOUD. The dining room was closing down, but the bartender was extremely helpful and let me order a lobster cocktail and steak to take back to my hotel room. Best ‘room service’ ever.
I recently had a chance to re-visit the restaurant. I wanted to sit at the bar, but it was very crowded. Despite a busy night and despite me being a single diner, the front desk staff was very accommodating and found me a table in the main dining room. I had the chop chop salad and, keeping with the theme, a veal chop. The waiter was very friendly and offered me a half portion on mashed potatoes as a side to the veal. Nice touch.
Overall I would say the food was ‘good’ but not exceptional, and probably not as good as Keen’s or Smith and Wollensky. BUT, the service (15 years ago and now) at Bobby Van’s is exceptional and beats most restaurants that I have visited in NYC (especially the attention to a single diner, which is rare). Come here for the food, but stay for the service.

I’ve always wanted to visit here and when I finally did, it was too late at night (10 PM). The bartender was welcoming and humorous. As a party of two, we only grabbed two glasses of wine to be considerate of the kitchen staff, although they wanted to accommodate. I definitely need to return to have their steak.

One of the better steakhouse chains in NYC, Bobby Van's, is always solid. While I've eaten at the Midtown West location more times, the original location at 230 Park has always been my favorite Bobby Van's. Today's visit did not disappoint!

Wow!!!! My boyfriend planned a date night here and wow was it fantastic. Chill vibe, classy but laid back environment. We both had the bone in rib steak which was phenomenal. Neither of us could finish our steaks and we aren’t light weights. The drinks were great and service was exceptional. I had a Baileys coffee at the end of the meal and it was fantastic. The sides were amazing also we had mashed potato and creamed spinach. Left overs the next day were also five star.
