A Wonderful Christmas Dinner Experience at Old Homestead
We recently had our Christmas dinner at Old Homestead for the second year in a row, and once again, we were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made sure every detail was taken care of. The food was outstanding—each dish was perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and made our holiday dinner feel extra special.
The accommodations were equally impressive. While the atmosphere was slightly dim, it added to the cozy, homely vibe, making it feel like we were enjoying a Christmas dinner in the comfort of our own home. It truly captured the essence of a warm holiday gathering.
A big thank you to the entire team at Old Homestead for making our celebration so memorable! We look forward to many more dinners here in the future.
With gratitude,
The staff at 2 Horatio St.

It is little different type of steak but so juicy and delicious. Nice atmosphere like cozy brownstone.
Staff looks nice but lack of communications unfortunately. Behind of my guest, I spoke to the other sever to let my server what dessert to order for surprise of my husband birthday. And his name! But the server did not know about what dessert i ordered and his name!

MEATPACKING DISTRICT, NY - If you're in the mood for a classic dining experience, you have to check out Old Homestead Steak House in the trendy Meat Packing District. Established way back in 1868, this spot has built strong ties with its butchers, ensuring they get the first pick of the finest beef. You'll find nothing but prime, dry-aged meat here — it's a promise they've kept since day one! Plus, they snagged the Wine Spectator Award in 2006.
.
The restaurant might not be huge, but its charming; old-school decor adds to the cozy atmosphere. While it’s nestled in Chelsea, the vibe is all about comfort and tradition. The service here is generally great, though sometimes it feels a bit understaffed during visits. Just a heads up: they don’t serve complimentary bread.
.
Now, let’s talk about the food! The New York Strip and Ribeye, cooked just the way you like and seasoned perfectly. Instead of traditional sides, you can decided to share the spicy Thai fried calamari, which is sweet and delicious, along with the stuffed shrimp. Everything is cooked to perfection, and you'll definitely plan to return. With an incredible ambiance, rich history, and fantastic wine selections, you won’t want to miss this staple of New York City.

One of the oldest steakhouses in NYC. Last time I came here was many years ago with clients. It felt good to just be here to enjoy the food.
No frills steak house. Had the steak burger (huge), ribeye, fries and calamari (we fat).

Great steaks, had the rock shrimp/calamari app which was good. Service was attentive but not too hovering. Staff from front of house to bar was friendly and welcoming

This place was amazing in Williamsburg and still is at their new Chelsea location. Great food!

Nice Mediterranean food. Some options are repetitive and bit heavy. Bread for my crazy baba came burnt to the point I couldn't eat it.
Atmosphere is nice. Service attentive. Drinks are quite good.

Awesome middle eastern location! I was surprised to have iPads for menus, though we couldn’t order off of them.
Absolutely loved their version of pita bread, it was fluffy, soft, and warm.
We ordered the lamb and chicken shawarma dishes and we were not disappointed. The lamb was super tender.

Zizi is a nice spot for a Mediterranean meal in the Chelsea area. The place has a rustic vibe, I am sure it would look good in the night with all the candles lighted up in the walls.
Liked their dip (Crazy Baba) and pita and the fact that everything tasted fresh. The portion size is good as well. Although felt that there could have been more options, especially in the dips.
Every item looked good in the menu so we ordered a lot variety. I must say I had more expectations, therefore, I felt that the food lacked flavors. It was more aesthetically pleasing, flavor wise just decent.
The shakshuka didn't feel like a shakshuka, it was a soup rather. The bread in the Mushroom sandwich was hard as a rock making it difficult to eat. The puff pastry was good and crispy but the dish as a whole was just okay. For a Mediterranean place, their hummus was too plain and basic. I have had better hummus in other Mediterranean restaurants in NYC. The only thing I can vouch for is their pita bread- really good and freshly made. Otherwise the food felt just plain and simple not extraordinary. They didn't deliver according to the expectations.
Also didn't find the staff to be friendly and engaging. They were just doing their duty.
I feel the restaurant has the potential to do much better.

Happy, lively and welcoming atmosphere. I loved that they were ready for Halloween. What a great place! The enchiladas were good.
I was cold. They had run out of tea, so our friendly server brought me a small pitcher of hot water... with a smile of course. Just a great place that I'm happy to recommend...
Especially after such a disappointing time at Artechouse exhibit, this place was a star. Highly recommend.

MEATPACKING DISTRICT, NY - I recently discovered Dos Caminos, and I have to say it's one of the best spots in Manhattan for amazing Mexican cuisine and drinks. The outdoor seating along the charming cobblestone street is just fantastic. Personally, I can't get enough of their flavorful fajitas and their wide variety of drinks and snacks. And if you have a sweet tooth, you've got to try their Dark Chocolate Tamal - it's a must! The service is always top-notch, the food is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Whether it's lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch, Dos Caminos is definitely worth a visit. And with over 150 tequilas to choose from, it's the perfect place to party in the Meatpacking District

This is one of the best spots in Manhattan to have great Mexican food and drinks outside.
There’s a ton of outdoor seating along a charming cobblestone street. I like their fajitas- it comes with a heaping portion of sizzling meat full of flavor. I frequently come here for drinks, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, ect. For desert, I like their Dark Chocolate Tamal. Always excellent service, quality food, and a great atmosphere.
Shawn C. - 4 months ago
Given dos caminos many tries over the years because it’s convenient and every time it disappoints. The quality of food doesn’t come close to the price that they charge. I’ve never felt so ripped off from a Mexican restaurant before. It’s not a horrible place to eat but you’ll be paying almost triple for the same quality as an On the Border or similar Mexican chain.
Anisha Soni - in the last week
I went there many times over the years, and usually had a great time.
However, recently things got a lot worse.
1. Service was very average. The servers did not check up on us. We would have definitely ordered more drinks, but the server just never showed up to ask. Overall it was difficult to get a hold of the server.
2. Mandatory 20% tip - which explains point #1. Seems the staff just didn’t care as there is an automatic mandatory 20% gratuity added
3. The frozen margaritas got worse. They used to have a special machine just for prickly pear margaritas, which made the cocktail consistent and great. Now they make the prickly pear margarita individual, and the quality standard is not the same
4. Menu got much, much smaller
I wish this place went back to 2019, it was an awesome restaurant, but no more :(

Why would a place serve tasteless or generic condiments for its burgers. It just make sense. The meatballs were good as an appetizer. The fries are pretty good.
The service here isn’t consistent. Our waiter from Ohio was very good and personable. His support staff needs a tad more training. Since we were still eating the appetizer, he sat one plate on a different table next to us. Is timing and planning his fault or the management.
The atmosphere was semi festive for the holidays.

Nice looking place. Fried chicken waffles, huge portion, but meat as a little dry. Note, sparkling water is $10 a bottle and they don’t come and pour the refills for you. 20% suggested tip is the lowest they start with.

The mushroom goat cheese egg sandwich is AMAZING! The challah brioche roll was light and perfect with the huge serving of eggs. Fast service, delicious food, great options. Their house made hot sauce tipped the scales to be the best egg sandwich on my list.

Needed coffee in the morning and gave this place a try. I got an iced americano and I love the beans they are using! It’s just my style, I’m not a big fan of the sour coffee, but their coffee is more on the bitter and bold side which I love! I’ll definitely be coming back!

Been here several times and it's my favorite!! The gimmick of the secret entrance is fun every time. Inside, the atmosphere is perfection. Each time I've gone, the wait staff and bartenders are extremely nice and helpful. Wonderful service--it really stands out as special here because of the people who work there. The menu looks limited but they're very skilled and will make any classic cocktails you want. Last time I also tried the salads and was surprised at how amazing the food was also. Reservations are a good idea for weekends or after 7pm, it seems. :)

cocktails are okay. Didn't exceed expectations but not bad either. My friend ordered Gin tonic and he said it tastes like sprite. This bar is definitely short on spirit volume in each drink.
Music every night from 8pm. Reservation highly recommended

Cool spot with an iconic bathtub in the middle of the bar (and apparently where you can take photos as well). The Gin focused menu is a treat to go through and I enjoyed my drinks. Service is friendly and they help walk ins get seated as soon as possible which is always appreciated.

Stumbled upon this gem of a speakeasy on a Saturday night -- didn't have a reservation but was seated in ~10mins! Drinks were great, and would absolutely come back to try more of their menu!
Food was also unexpectedly amazing! We had the pork belly, cucumber salad, and the potato dauphinoise! Would recommend all three!

I’ve been coming to ArtBar for three years now, and I’ve never had a bad experience. The ambience is top tier, it’s a great place to pregame or just have a calm/chill night to talk with your friends. The drinks are always very well made and I love the specials they come out with seasonally. The food is surprisingly good for bar food, like. Really. Really. Good. There’s not a single thing I wouldn’t recommend on their menu, idk who they have working in the kitchen but they are fire. 10/10 recommend this place!!

Came here on a Wednesday evening on a holiday week. Very busy but my group of 4 was still able to get a booth in the front room. Aesthetic is lively and quintessential NYC before the World Wide Web.
One of the few places that has been able to keep this vibe. May it exist for another 30+ years.
Great spot to meet up with friends to grab a cocktail without having to pay city prices (~$11 for a martini)
Good happy hour that runs until 7pm also.

Very cozy yet spacious. A bit loud at times but it’s popular so no fault of ownership. The food was just absolutely delicious from the croquettes to the empanadas (surprisingly large!) to the garlic chicken and other incredible dishes, I absolutely loved this place and will definitely return to try even more of the menu!

Phenomenal Spanish tapas restaurant! La Nacional has been one of my friend's favorite NYC restaurants for the last three years, and I can absolutely see why -- the food is incredible and relatively affordable (especially for Chelsea Market), and the vibes are immaculate.
We came by for dinner on a Friday evening, and the place was absolutely bustling. Both floors were completely packed, but we thankfully had a reservation so were able to make it to our spot, a cute little two-top nestled in the corner of the second floor, with ease. We were seated right next to the curtain, which opens up to reveal a live band during the weekends -- our server made a great pitch for the live music, so we'll have to be back some other time to get the full experience.
We split a few dishes, including the patatas bravas, croquettes, green mac and cheese, and seafood paella. The portions were massive, so this was more than enough food for the two of us, and could have easily fed a third person and/or been our lunch for the next day. The patatas bravas were super crispy, with a delightfully soft, fluffy interior, and they were served on a giant, boat-like platter that stretched across our entire table. The potatoes were dotted with dollops of two sauces, a slightly spicy and tangy red sauce and a lovely aioli. The same aioli was served with the croquettes, which were perfectly crispy and oozing with gooey, melted cheese.
The green mac and cheese was similarly oozing with gooey, melted cheese, which coated the perfectly soft noodles alongside the various green veggies and herbs mixed into the sauce. The little cast iron skillet was then topped with another layer of melted and broiled cheese, and the entire dish was decadent, with a bit of a unique twist and hint of freshness from the herbs and veggies. The paella was, of course, phenomenal, as to be expected from any Spanish restaurant. The rice was super flavorful and had a slight bite, especially the slightly charred bits at the bottom of the pan. It was topped with a generous helping of assorted seafood, including mussels, squid, and shrimp. A small squeeze of lemon added a hint of brightness to the dish, making it the perfect centerpiece to the meal.

This place is a historic one- I’m so glad that i came here for dinner. We went downstairs in the basement. The place is dimly lit, crowded, quite loud and extremely vibrant. The service was prompt. We started with a long list of tapas to share. Each unique dish was a gastronomical delight. All small plates aka tapas were not too small in portion, mostly shareable. Absolutely loved the tomato on bread, calamari, potato and gambas al ajilo. Next we ordered paella - one with chicken and veggies, another with seafood. The portion was good. The ingredients were fresh and the food was terrific. We finished with flan and churros. The flan was extraordinary. Don’t miss it.

One of the best values in the city. This Valencia inspired restaurant features an amazing atmosphere, warm service and AMAZING FOOD. I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while, and, after randomly meeting Chef Paco, I decided it was time. I was not disappointed. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. The tapas were tasty, the paella was on point and the mocktails were marvelous. The open kitchen and bar make the place look smaller than it is. Theres plenty of space for big parties upstairs and a private room in the back. The upstairs features amazing club like atmosphere and is big enough to have a wedding party of about 70 (I’m currently shopping a venue for a reception dinner so I asked). The most impressive thing was the tab- there were six of us and we went crazy on ordering: 5 mocktails, a beer or two, charcuterie plate, 6 tapas, 2 salads, a large seafood paella with chicken and chorizo (add on), and almost every dessert on the menu (I hate flan but this flan changed my mind- it’s a must try). The bill came to about $60 a person with tax and tip!!! No wonder the place is packed, this value is unparalleled in the city. 6 stars out of 5. Will be back often.

The service was good. The atmosphere was a busy diner. It was cozy and pretty packed late at night.
The food tasted fresh and it wasn’t out of this world amazing. It was really really good. I’d say the prices were a bit high for the food you were getting.
I got a burger and I tried my friends fish tacos. The burger was juicy had a good taste and they had a variety of options that I don’t see in a typical restaurant. So if you’re looking to taste food from a different culture, definitely a nice spot to try.
Fish tacos were crunchy and didn’t even need sauce! I’ll definitely be back to try the oxtail empanada.

I went here for a late night bite and was happy with my experience. The food was good too.
I got an Pabellon Arepa with a side of fries. The Arepa came with beef, plantain, and beans in it. The beef was fine, the beans had hints of being savory, and the plantain was sweet. This was complemented well by the breading of the arepa which tasted fresh and simple, as to not steal too much attention from the main ingredients. The fries were pretty straightforward fries. I can only say I liked the food I didn’t love it.
One thing that I did appreciate is that I asked for a side of ranch to help the fries and instead they gave me a whole arrangement of sauces. I ended up using a completely different sauce because it tasted so much better on the fries.
On top of that the service was fast and the salsa music was great. It claims to be a Cuban restaurant and it certainly fells like it.
Overall I had a good time which I will say goes along way when the food is enjoyable.

Late night Vibes 💯
Music 💯
Even though this restaurant is intimidatingly crowded, we were seated as soon as we walked in, within 2 minutes.
Service was impeccable, fast, accurate and not to mention everything we ordered was absolutely DELICIOUS.
Started with THE succulent oxtail empanada, absolutely DELICIOUS 😋 and flavorful. We had to order a second!
Entre was the chicken sandwich, It was juicy, crunchy and topped with coleslaw. It instantly made my mouth water. Highly recommend!
Then ordered the rice and beef. The table next to us had it and it smelled so good we had to try it. 100/10 definitely recommend.
In my opinion just order 1 of everything. Thank me later.

Great place if you are in the mood for afternoon tea or anything English. It’s not necessarily the best food ever but it will fill a craving and the atmosphere is very nice. Also the portions are huge so it’s worth it. The tea was good and even had some to go. The scones are not as moist as I’d like them but that might just be personal preference. The clotted creme and jam is delicious!! Fish and chips were ok. I liked the fries more than the fish. Service was good. Everyone was nice they just took a while to serve so keep that in mind. Overall I would go back but keep my options open for other afternoon tea places as well.

Tried the shepherds pie and cottage pie… it’s similar but diff meat. Shepherds is lamb and it seemed like they added some carrots and maybe corn, but the cottage seemed like just ground beef. The mashed potatoes on top were buttery and felt like there were crispy cheesy edges.. the pickles were not what I expected. Added the peas to our meal and also added pickles and it was better.. not sure if this is authentic but it was just okay. My cousin raved about the place so maybe I had high expectations.. idk
The ginger cake was good and had the perfect ginger kick… the pudding/custard was good. Wish the dessert was warmer
I want to try the chicken pot pie, but not a place I’d tell people they need to try

If you England and looking for that place that is like home then I recommend Tea and Sympathy. The restaurant is small but charming, a bit on the noisy since everyone is seated shoulder to shoulder. The outside build out is a bit much bigger, so there is that. Now on to the food the afternoon tea for one is a lot there is no way one person can get through all those scones , finger sandwiches and cakes. But they all tasted delicious the clotted cream jam and scones was a winner for me. The tea can be a bit hotter but it was great. You can also get typical Brit dishes there also nextdoor there is the shop that sells all the British goodies that one is accustomed too. Service was great and the ambiance will remind you of a typical neighborhood British spot.
