Thank you to the staff: A man with face tattoo's, who looked like he was on his way out, put down his bag, and escorted us to a seat with a big smile.
We walked in with a group of 7 in the middle of what seemed like a very busy dinner service, expecting to have a long wait and yet we were served our drinks quickly and our food came about 20-25 minutes after we ordered it. I just wanted to remark to the management that your staff are wonderful people and well trained. I couldn't help but notice the negative reviews and I would like to put it out there: That for a PUB, this is a very well established restaurant, and there was nothing I could possibly think to complain about. Thank you for the good food, prompt and warm service, and the cold drinks.

Me and a few of my friends went here last night. Jacob was our server and he was so amazing and sweet. I ordered the Shepard pie and it was just bitter and tasted like it was old. Jacob kindly let me switch to a burger and fries. They need to hire more staff it was so unfair how much work load was on Jacob from my point
Me view. Later in the night we had a bartender named Taylor help us. So lovely and attentive, such amazing. These two staff members are wonderful. When the bill came I noticed I was charged for the Shepard pie and burger so I asked Jacob why and he said the manager told him I have to pay for both since I ordered both. I asked if I could speak to the manager because I barely had a bite and it was uneatable. Lovely Jacob went back to the manager and I guess he changed his mind and let Jacob take it off the bill.
After paying I was on my way out when I over head the manager give a lady a glass of for free and he said “its on the house because your order took a while”. Our order was also extremely late but they were short staff so we understood but the part that’s not ok if the argument of not taking the Shepard pie to begin with. Why give your staff a hard time when a customer didn’t like it and when I asked to speak with him he didn’t even come to our table. Very unwelcoming manager.

Cute bar and the bartender was running the bar and our server. Service seemed to be a bit slow but it wasn’t overly busy so I can see why they probably only had 1 cook and 1 person running customer service.
Regardless the bartender was nice and friendly. They had interesting flavours for wings but I found it wasn’t as amazing as I had expected. The large nachos were good and the jalapeños were fresh. The only thing is I felt it could’ve used a bit more lettuce but there was more than enough beef.

Great place for service, food and ambiance. Rob the bartender is super creative and very knowledgeable and cocktails and the menu . Everything is delicious and the drinks are delightful . Would definitely recommend visiting here. The Mediterranean Nachos are a creative and tasty twist on a Mexican favorite. Uts a MUST TRY!

Consistently wonderful family bar. Drinks range from exactly what you need them to be, to exeptional. The food is delicious, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Too good to gatekeep, that's for sure!

Amazing wings for a good price, and truly listen to the staff when you consider trying out their hotter wings. I have a pretty good spice tolerance, and this is THE place where hot means HOT. I've been disappointed by so many wing places in the past where they advertise their hottest wing flavours as really hot, but they end up being decent at best on the spice front.
This place is the real deal. The lava wings will make you tear and drool snot as you work your way through the pound. Haven't had anything spicier anywhere. Taste is superb on top of that so if you're worried about spice at the expense of flavour that's definitely not a problem here.
Service was amazing as well.

We LOVE The Groove Bar!! They have the best chicken wings on the Danforth and their entire menu is classic and comforting. We love that they are a family owned and operated business and always feel super welcomed and taken care of when we are there. Don't go to major chain pubs. Support these types of establishments. Where everyone knows your name....
Oh, and the free comedy nights are always a blast!

What a fun place! So many different flavors to choose from and they were all really tasty, hard to pick a favorite as I enjoyed them all. And for someone who can't handle spicy food, I really appreciate that most of the flavors were non-spicy. These are a great size for snacking and would be great to bring to a potluck or picnic. I'll definitely be back and am looking forward to trying their chutney!

Flying star for creativity, friendliness service and delicious samosa. Love the jerk samosa and the butter chicken. A great spot for vegan friendly option. They also have a grab and go area stocked with soups, chutney, and home made lemonade.

Just randomly walked by the samosas today and I was peaking in , a customer walking out said it’s so good , I should try it.
I did and it was absolutely amazing 💯 tried a variety of veg samosas - all delicious. I got 6 samosas. Really reasonable pricing as well .

Sometimes I’ll leave a review as a reminder of a place I want to return to and this is one of those. These are the tastiest treats. I bought a 6 pack of assorted ones and they were all so different and delicious. Served warm from the counter too ! Jerk chicken was my favourite and I’m pretty picky about this flavour. I’ll be back for more !! Oh and visit the Handwork Department a few doors down for some great thrift shopping! Now I have a new routine when I stop there ! Lol

Great jazz in a friendly small venue. Dinner delicious and quite affordable. Nice listening-room vibe with audience respectful of the band. Good TTC access. Cash preferred for band cover charge.

Hirut combines their restaurant with a venue for entertainers - jazz, comedy etc from a small stage in the restaurant. Great if you're looking for entertainment with your meal (I guess not so great if you aren't), so check the schedule. Very small menu with a handful of items, all Ethiopian staples.
Tracey Clingen - 2 years ago
A perfect place to find yourself soaking up some lovely jazz played by some of Toronto's best hidden talents. I'd only had Ethiopian food once before this and it wasn't the best experience, but this experience was altogether different. The ribs were, on their own, perfection. The accompaniments were all also delicious in their own right, but in combining the flavours you can meet God, truly. I haven't had food that good in many years, and only ever homemade things! The amount of passion that goes into cooking food that delightful is rare to find, and I would highly recommend coming here to experience it. This place is 6 stars out of 5 stars, 25 hours a day and 8 days a week.

It was great to be out for some live music and a drink or two but the food....a simple plate in itself but sooooooon amazing! The flavours and the spice coupled with the traditional style of eating, really so very good. I wish i had taken photos but they wouldn't do it justice you just have to try it!
UPDATE: I have now added some photos from a second visit, this time family style.

Great pizza place in our neighborhood. Always much much better option than pizza pizza down the street. Great folks who work here as well, always involved in our school events. Vegan cheese offering is pretty decent too. Highly recommend for quick, easy, simple but yummy pizza for the family!

Very good! I’ve tried a few around the city and it’s hit or miss, they hit! Pizza was good, and even made my pizza 1/2 per my note, wedges wee delish! Will definitely order from here again.

I didn't know pizza could be this disappointing. The pizza was soggy and when I picked up a piece, the toppings just fell off. No flavour.
The lady at the counter was very kind.
I won't be going back.

I had some pizza. The pizza is not tasty. Quite soggy.
The staff is excellent.
Update: my girlfriend eats Pizza Nova from this location, and the "white pizza." is her favourite. Gets it from here once a week. Today we ordered a large and it didn't have enough herb oil base, and the crust was not as requested. She was very disappointed. I offered to return it, but she was scared they would get mad. I'm im just leaving a review for her.
Update x2: they got the pizza right. But too many flies in the restaurant.
El Nasrani (Lawrence of Arabia) - a year ago
I normally would only order Pizza Nova when I wanted a "Better Pizza" but this will be the last time I order from here. The amount of toppings was so minimal the crust was awful and dry, it was not good at all. Everything is so expensive these days, I rarely order out so when I do I would like great food. So disappointed....

First time , small place . Very friendly and helpful staff. Tried the Thai Room special chicken and shrimp pad see ew . It was fast and very well cooked. Nice taste not too spicy . The vegetables were cooked well, the shrimp was the star of the dish . Also had the vegetable spring roll , it was fried perfectly and cooked evenly . No oily or cold spots in roll, their dipping sauce was perfect . Definitely recommend this place , portions are a good size . I will definitely go back .

Location is convenient for us Walking distance from Main and Danforth. We had the Mango Chicken and the Signature Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. There was a good number of shrimp in our order. Food was hot and freshly cooked. We ate at the restaurant, service was good and friendly.

It's been a long time since I had Thai this good. I often order Pad Thai and Mango salad, as my fav. Just ordered Mango this time and was very impressed.
Sometimes my memory exaggerates and tells me that the past experience was much better. However this Mango salad was about as good as the best I recall. Tiny criticism, it seemed a bit too sweet as I got towards the end.
Friend ordered Green Curry and Coconut Mango rice. Never had that rice before. Wow, have I been missing out! Five out five stars. I will adding this to my fav list.
Didn't try my friends Green Curry, however she said very good.

Surprisingly nice restaurant setup. The service was fast and their protein portion is respectful. Contrary to other Thai restaurants , they are generous in the portions.
I highly recommend it.
Their spring roll are great as well their special fried rice, comes with chicken and shrimp and a special spice That is delicious.
Same with their green curry which is smooth and tasty 😋.
Btw you need to try their spring rolls.

Wanted to taste some yummy Chinese food from one of the local businesses and Google recommended them. Seeing 4.3 avg. rating encouraged us to try it out. No complaints about service, it was warm and friendly. However, the food was not. It's true that they give you a huge amount to fill your belly but if your tongue couldn't taste anything, what's the point of filling your belly?
Mongolian Chicken with steamed rice had more cabbage to cover the whole thing (see picture). Even if that was tasty, I wouldn't complain. It was dripping with sauce and no taste.
Sweet and Sour Pork usually is a safe bet, with chicken fried rice, it looked good but tasted nothing. The pork was full with sauce, and fried rice was hard as hell.
Overall, not a good experience. Having less faith in these Google ratings lately. I guess most 5-star people went there to fill their belly with cheap offers rather than taste something good at a reasonable price.
No hard feelings to the owners, they were good, just not the food we paid for.
John D'Costa - 2 years ago
Great portions at great prices. Really good fried chicken wings that came with the take out order after hitting the minimum. Everything was very tasty except the sweet and sour pork. It's my favorite dish, but it was very disappointing. Tasted like orange chicken which was weird, would not recommend this dish.
Would recommend and come back to try other dishes.

We’ve been going to Sandy’s for years, and for the first time, we were disappointed in our dinner. We ordered 9 dishes so we had a good sampling. Most of them were either tasteless, too sweet, or too salty. Everything tasted artificial, and there didn’t seem to be any ginger or garlic. I don’t even want to eat the leftovers. I’m guessing a change of ownership. Very sad, this was a go-to place for us for about a decade.
Aphra Behn - 3 weeks ago
The food is amazing! Great portions and the prices are reasonable. This is a family owned restaurant which has been in the community for years. My family and I have been coming here for years and I can honestly say they never disappoint. You have to check out this hidden gem!

Breakfast is awesome.
Pricing reasonable
Portions are plentiful
Service is like eating at you aunts home and you feel welcome and appreciated
It’s, rye bread is not typical it’s a dark rye, so if you order rye and toasted and it looks charred it’s not and it’s crazy delicious.
Omelettes are superb as are the accoutrements.
Coffee is brewed as is the decaf and they will make you an iced coffee as well.
Thank you for the excellent breakfast and the super clean and cost environment.

This is. Without a doubt. Some of the best wings I've ever had. The wing flavors were all so delicious and actually spicy!!! And they have plenty to choose from. The fry flavors are all absolutely delicious and everything was reasonably priced. The owner was very friendly and super helpful and made this just an all around welcoming experience to Toronto! If you're in Toronto you MUST GO to this place! Thanks for making this a memorable trip and a memorable New Years Eve!

Very good wings ! Don't @me for this next statement, but gives Duff's a run for their money for a lot less cash !
Unbreaded wings are amazing, lemon pepper is on point ! Ordered multiple times and the portions are great and the folks that work their are super friendly!
If you have been disappointed by places that you order 1lbs of wings that are weirdly oversized and you only get 5 wings then make the switch to these guys. Wings that are normal sized, delicious, well cooked and aren't greasy (or taste like they were boiled and fast fried)
Great food, great job ! Try them out
Robert McLaughlin - 2 years ago
I have to say I really like the wings. They are fresh and always taste good. I've eaten here a handful of times in the last 6 months. My reason for the lower rating is they are always, without fail, late. Each time I order online I set a time for pick up, and it has never been within 20 minutes of that time frame. I wait for my order in store and I can see it's not busy, there aren't people coming in and out. So it's not for the fact that they are over capacity. Sometimes they say they "didn't get my order until recently" but I get order confirmation right after I pay online so I find that hard to believe too.
Again I really like their food, but each time I remember why I don't order here as often. I will gladly change my rating if I start experiencing better service.
David Ly - a year ago
Ordered takeout on a Friday evening. Order was completed quickly, portions for wings were good but portions for the fries were even better! Sauce and coating on the wings was well done, however, the meat itself was quite dry. Might have been just the batch that day.
Edit: forgot to add that the staff was very friendly!
Kevin Zhang - 2 years ago
Ordered via their online portal, and when we went to pick it up the store wasn't even opened. Tired calling an no pick up. Just looked at my credit card bill now and they still charged my order. Disappointing, as I've had good wings here before.
Update: the new rating is based on how helpful they have been in getting me my refund back. Also I know they do make good wings. My only feedback is they need to pay more attention to their online platform so this never happens again. Also to make it clear that if something doesn't go right for their online ordering they should out reach to Doordash. It's no very clear right now and the number they have posted on their site and confirmation email doesn't really go anywhere.

Gyoko Sushi is a small, cozy place that we absolutely love for its proximity and fantastic service. Recently, we made a reservation for 10 people to celebrate my LA cousin's last day in town, and it did not disappoint.
The service was excellent, as always. The staff was attentive and ensured our large group was well taken care of. The food was spot on, just like every other time we've visited. The sushi was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.
Gyoko Sushi continues to be a favorite for us, and this visit reinforced why we keep coming back. If you’re looking for great sushi with excellent service in a cozy setting, I highly recommend Gyoko Sushi.
