Came to visit right after the restaurant opened, skipped all the rush hours. The entire restaurant had a very homely atmosphere. Food was tasty and the portions were so great!!
Food was amazing, we ordered guacamole to start and a veggie platter for two shared among the three of us and it was more than sufficient amount of food. The owner/server was so friendly and got everything very quick. Food was fresh and I would highly recommend anyone who wants to try authentic mexican food. It’s close to the subway and you will not be disappointed!

Food is excellent, but if they are busy, may be long wait for food. To avoid that, we usually get here by 6:30 pm. The chicken tamale very tasty. Sangria was okay. The meat platter for 2 very good, more than enough food. Friendly service, Thank you!

First off the location is easy to get to, being steps from Coxwell station and right on Danforth at street level. There's plenty of seating inside and the vibe is super colorful with many masks lining the walls.
Price wise costs were higher than expected, but portions are very generous and dishes are heavy/filling. For example, at dinner, a meal for two combo was enough food for 3 people (we got the meat plate option).
I liked that tons of fresh veggies/ salad was used for the tacos which tasted homemade and not greasy. The only qualm I had was with the beef being overcooked (dry and hard) for our beef tacos. Otherwise everything was great, flavourful and I'd come back!

El Sol is a great place to go to for authentic Mexican food on the Danforth. The food is pricey, but the portions are big. The staff are friendly, but the service can be slow when it's busy so ordering an appetizer is recommended. They only take cash/debit at this time.

This salad is a wonderful construction of flavours, textures and aromas. Arugula and potatoes make up the base, decorated with sesame and pumpkin seeds, pine nuts, pickled fennel, avocado and delicious slices of smoked salmon. All of it is finished with an addicting green goddess dressing that's tangy, creamy and herby.

Cozy restaurant. Really tasty food. The chicken wings are incredible. The soup is amazing. The parmesan fries are delicious too 🤤🤤🤤. The staff are friendly and quick service too. Highly recommend!

The food was not so good. The burger was huge but had prices of grizzle in it which made it chewy and not very palatable. The cheese slice was excessively large and not sure what kind of cheese it was but it was way too strong. The bun also fell apart while eating the burger which is annoying. The fries were great. The wings were not the best quality and had a large breaded crispy coating that wasn’t my favourite. Just too much added grease. The staff were very friendly and kind. The place itself is nice.
I would go back for a beer or a cocktail but definitely not for the food.

Outstanding food. We've only been twice but the food has been great each time. Good beer selection. The owner is great. He subbed in a meal we chosenfornthe Prix Fix menu. Excellent spot. Go support this place, they're doing it right.

Great atmosphere and delicious food! We love visiting for a quick bite or a nice dinner. The warm lentil salad is a nice light entree, but the ricotta gnocchi are too die for! So pillowy and indulgent! The fish and chips are also so great staple.

It was my first time here. A friend recommended us to try a cappuccino. I am not even a cappuccino drinker, but it tasted really good (just like how delicious it tastes in Asmara) ! We came kind of late and the woman working there was getting ready to shut down the coffee maker for the night, but still made us our drinks with a smile on her face, conversed, and made us feel comfortable. Excellent customer service!

Was only popping in because I was lost. Told myself it’s not bad. It’s (an Ethiopian place) have never felt more at home. People were kind, didn’t speak much English at all, but relaxing. Had a double vodka. Place was clean.
Very nice and not down my throat only to help.
Thank you!

What a great experience. Came here for dinner with a friend and from
The moment we stepped in you could tell it was going to be a good meal. The decor is on point. The aromas in the air great. And when it came to it, everything was delicious. The service was very attentive and courteous.

Dropped in for dinner with a couple buddies on a complete whim, and it turned to a culinary experience to remember...
We ordered the Spring Rolls & Thai Calamari to start. And the table unanimously agreed the calamari to be one of the highlights of the menu.
For the main, I ordered the Green Curry with Tofu and Veggies, and the flavour profile was complex, yet balanced.
And a Thai meal wouldn't be complete until it's capped off with Mango Coconut Sticky Rice. It wasn't too sweet, which being Asian, is the ultimate compliment...

Sala Modern Thai Kitchen was a gem to find! My friend and I were just looking for a place around that had vegan options and this place popped up. We made reservations, but when we got there at close to 8:00pm, the place was packed! They were very accommodating and asked if we would like to sit at the bar to wait. We just decided to stay there and eat because the atmosphere was just so lively and fun. The women serving us were so sweet and patient even though it was so busy. I had Pad Thai and my friend had the Pad Sew. Both were generous portions and delicious, but the coconut ice cream at the end was to die for! Even though we live in Barrie, we will definitely make a trip back to this place. I have already told all my friends about it!

This is my favourite Thai place in Toronto - not just the East end. The food is delicious and very flavorful. The portions are good and fairly priced.
Especially love the spring rolls, pad thai, and khaoi soi.
I've done take out and enjoyed eating in. When you eat in, they give you a few shot glasses of flavor enhancers, so you can customize your dish.
The entrance is a bit awkward in the winter because you have to navigate a tent experience that does its best to keep out the cold with varying degrees of success - you'll still get a chill if you eat near the door. Washrooms are down a flight of stairs in the basement.

I would have liked to give this place a better review but my first experience was not as great as I hoped. I love trying out other foods from other cultures but the food here did not really make that big of impression on me. The service was mediocre. The waitress appeared nice but nonchalantly lied messing up on an order. I ordered beef and was served lamb. Not realizing what I was eating which I thought was chicken, was actually lamb. Although I liked the food presentation, the flavour did not stand out for me. I would normally eat alot but was not satisfied. The first time I had minimal interest in what I was eating. I did like the furniture and traditional Ethiopian decor. Not a place I would return to, to eat in.

We ordered the platter that has most of the popular items. The chicken was pretty tasty. Four of us ate all of items on this family platter except for the beef stew(?) which did not taste bad but had a very unusual flavor that did not agree with our palate. The staple which is like a pancake with honeycomb patterns. These can be refilled if the ones on the platter rans out. Some say it looks like the beef stomach. Ordered cakes for dessert, one baklava (4/10) & carrot cake (7/10). Date: 2024-AUG-29 dinner time.

Our first time trying Ethiopian food in Toronto. Everything was great. The server, Kebron, recommended her favourite dishes and we ordered those. Good portion sizes and food was delicious. We were too full to try it, but the coffee ceremony for 2 people looked very interesting. One thing to note is that they only take debit or cash as payment. Also, street parking was available right outside the restaurant.

Great place.
Had the platter with Beef strips.
All tasted great and they even had Gluten free ingera (made from Teff flour).
Not spicy, could have been a little more bit.
The meat strips had great taste but were really not a good cut of meet. Tons of fat and tendons because some prices I couldn’t even tear apart.
The coffee tastes good and it was strong.
Overall good place. It’s small but cozy.

Food is absolutely amazing. Some of us enjoyed the veggie combo, others the meat combo... And everyone raved about how good it was.
The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Atmosphere was comfortable and cozy, not too loud to talk.
I will definitely go back!

Randez-vous is my favorite Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere are amazing. My favorite dishes are the Cha Cha Tibs, Randez-vous Special Tibs (with potato or spinach), Cornis, Kikil, Special Kitfo, Doro Wot, and anything from the Veggie Combo. The owner of the restaurant, Banchi, is a very talented, friendly, and lovely person, and she makes being there that much more enjoyable. The staff is also very friendly and attentive, ensuring we have a great dining experience.

Good place to try Ethiopian food. Delicious and healthy with some spices. Very fresh injera( Ethiopian flat bread), different vegetables and meat sauce. Be prepared to eat meal with your hands, it’s quite very fan and tasty. Do not expect great service, they have to learn that. Will be pleasant to have better quality water glasses. Any place I go, specifically for food I expect to use a clean washroom, it tells me a lot about food business. In this case they should install fun or better ventilation. Otherwise, all the smell travels around eating area … 🥴 I’ve noticed many people take out food.

Food not my style. terribly spicy, kinda plain. The food takes SO long to get to your table, heck, they showed us the roasting coffee beans and I think it's been an hour already. where is the coffee? Atmosphere is okay, but then they burn random stuff in the store or ambience for whatever? I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but I think this place sucks. Not even that much value for food. Don't go here if you have lung sensitivities.

NO RESERVATIONS. Came here on a Sunday evening at around 7:15pm and waited 5 minutes for a table for 3.
This place has been on my list for a very long time as their menu is always changing. This is owned by the same people as Lake Inez and The Wood Owl next door. Super casual vibes and service was exceptional! I ordered the McChopped Cheese which was good, but obviously it didn't hit the same as the one I recently had from NYC. I also got to try the Monday I'm in Love Burger and the Steak Frites. Everything was really good and it came with a generous portion of fries. We also finished with the Chocolate Stout Cake which was not too rich and sweet. I only wished it came with ice cream instead of whipped cream.
Highly recommend and would come back. Would also recommend the Wood Owl next door for something less casual.

Went for 2nd the time ever because their burgers were so good!. It was not busy on Sunday evening but also been on a weeknight around 9pm and it was packed. Service was exceptional and the burger change every few weeks or so. Would also recommend the chocolate cake, very scrumptious but wished there was ice cream instead of the whip cream. Will be back again!

This is a go to spot on the Danforth and East York area! Food is always top notch elevated pub/bistro food. I love that they constantly have specials and add dynamic twists to classic dishes. Service is great and spot is awesome for a quick drink or a bite to eat!

Stopped by here for a bit of food while I was in the area. They have a good list of beers that were interesting to try. Their staff are also pretty knowledgeable and can recommend something if you don't know which one might be your thing.
The food was good. Their meatball dish ran out when we came in so we had to wait a bit for them to replenish I guess and make more. Otherwise, pretty standard pub experience and was nice to try out.

Really tasty food. Nice atmosphere. The large table is a bit tricky to get in and out of but that's the reality of a large group at a smaller place. Friendly staff and good service. I didn't get to try the beer since I was DD but I hope to get the chance to return and try it. The brisket sandwich was delicious. Although my friend's steak was presented a bit messier than it could've been but she loved the taste regardless.

Wazema is one of my favorite places for Ethipian food on the Danforth. Great service. I always go for the Wazema platter- my partner and I got ambitious ordering a plate ‘for 3’ (we could have definitely just done ‘for 2’) but it was delicious nontheless. We went on a weekday evening but it’s also a fun spot to hangout come night time, it has a club-type vibe with live music on some nights. The reason I gave 4/5 for atmosphere is the restaurant is quite dim, and when I was there, there was some sort of smoke in the air, as though there was heavy incense burning (it eventually dissipated). This didn’t take away from the overall experience.

This was my first experience with Ethiopian food and I really liked it. The Injera bread was so different and such an experience to be grabbing each bite with this. We ordered a mixed plate and even though I didn't know what each thing was, I just knew all the flavors were different and delicious. One mixed plate is good for 4-5 people.

First time trying Eriterian/ Ethiopian food and it was pretty yummy. The restaurant itself though was extremely dark and loud which made it hard to interact with my friends and see the food i was eating. The food was tasty and flavoured well.

Great place to try Ethiopian food for the first time! My personal favourites were the Cha Cha Tibs and Doro Wat. Their menu has a ton of variety and everything tasted great. Be aware that this spot turns into a club/lounge after 10pm and you can only be seated if you purchase bottle service. Going forward I’d definitely come earlier in the day since the music was a little too loud and the lights were too dim for me to fully enjoy the food. I’d also recommend keeping your group 4-5 people as it gets difficult to share off one plate passed that.
