Came to visit right after the restaurant opened, skipped all the rush hours. The entire restaurant had a very homely atmosphere. Food was tasty and the portions were so great!!
Food was amazing, we ordered guacamole to start and a veggie platter for two shared among the three of us and it was more than sufficient amount of food. The owner/server was so friendly and got everything very quick. Food was fresh and I would highly recommend anyone who wants to try authentic mexican food. It’s close to the subway and you will not be disappointed!

Food is excellent, but if they are busy, may be long wait for food. To avoid that, we usually get here by 6:30 pm. The chicken tamale very tasty. Sangria was okay. The meat platter for 2 very good, more than enough food. Friendly service, Thank you!

First off the location is easy to get to, being steps from Coxwell station and right on Danforth at street level. There's plenty of seating inside and the vibe is super colorful with many masks lining the walls.
Price wise costs were higher than expected, but portions are very generous and dishes are heavy/filling. For example, at dinner, a meal for two combo was enough food for 3 people (we got the meat plate option).
I liked that tons of fresh veggies/ salad was used for the tacos which tasted homemade and not greasy. The only qualm I had was with the beef being overcooked (dry and hard) for our beef tacos. Otherwise everything was great, flavourful and I'd come back!

El Sol is a great place to go to for authentic Mexican food on the Danforth. The food is pricey, but the portions are big. The staff are friendly, but the service can be slow when it's busy so ordering an appetizer is recommended. They only take cash/debit at this time.

Amazing find. Delicious authentic Japanese food! Udon broth was amazing. Tempura light and not greasy. Hot green tea and hot Sake were great too! The serving bowls, pots and cups were beautiful.

Sunset Grill - if you want a decent, good breakfast with a throwback, cozy environment, then this is where you want to go. Located steps away from Coxwell subway station, this Sunset Grill is a local favourite spot.
Like many similar places, Sunset Grill serves your standard breakfast fare. You get your eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee, choice of bread - you get the idea. What we go to Sunset Grill for though, are their home fries. These home fries are not the kind that come pre-made in a bag from your freezer. NOPE. These home fries come from real potatoes, cut, and done right on the stove. Bite into them and you can taste actual potato with that chew. I've been to a few other breakfast restaurants where the home fries taste more like that powdery stuff that comes out of the freezer - not my fave so Sunset Grill is the way to go for me.
There are lots of different breakfast combinations to choose from. Show up before 10am and they even have morning specials so if you're an early bird, give that a go as well.
Now, a few more comments about the food that we had. Overall, taste is what you'd expect - a good hearty breakfast. If you ask for over easy eggs, they will come to you over easy. Scrambled is scrambled. The breakfast sausages taste good - what you'd expect. Perhaps the only thing to mention is that the bacon is on the saltier side but definitely crispy. Bread - you get your choice of white, brown, or rye. Featured in the images is the brown bread.
The restaurant itself is actually bigger than you'd think given the storefront. There are 2 levels and plenty of seating. At the time I went, customers could choose where they wanted to sit.
Before ending this off, I have to give a shout out to the staff that work at this Sunset Grill. I've been a few times now and seen the same faces and they are a lovely bunch. Smiles for all the customers and you can tell they know who the regulars are.
I have to say, I appreciate the atmosphere of this Sunset Grill. It's just easy, it's chill, and there's a bit of a throwback to times now past which I find nostalgic and homey. It may not be the most modern joint in the area but I appreciate its charm with good people and good food. They also serve omelettes and burgers which I plan to try next time I go. Give it a go if you're in the area.

The eggs were perfect, the bacon just right, but I should have ordered the "thick toast" instead of the pumpernickel.

What a great restaurant TKO's is. The food is great, the atmosphere is perfect, and Mary is just magnificent. Their fries are freshly cut, and if you order them, make sure to get the gravy to compliment them, because it's fantastic!
Thanks, Mary, for making our evening so fabulous. Cheers!

Went here for a leafs finals game - so happy we found this gem of a spot! Food is all apps/quick bites but went perfect with drinking. Mary runs the whole show herself - serving, bartending and making every customer feel super welcome. She takes the time to chat with everyone and make them feel at home, while running the whole show! We will definitely be back.

Honestly, if you go to an A and W, it's a franchise so you know what kind of food you're going to get. It's fast food but for me, I like the quality of their standard burgers more than other places. I also like their breakfast options. What I have noticed though is that not all A & Ws do breakfast well. I've been to locations where my over easy eggs are overdone grey and my bacon doesn't exist. This review in particular is for the breakfast at the Coxwell and Danforth location.
Images show one of their standard breakfast options with choice of eggs, bacon, and bread. I appreciated that my overeasy eggs were in fact, over easy! Bacon was thin (standard across this franchise) but it was cooked well and not burnt. Bread was up to expectation.
What I appreciated is that the staff present that day were polite and professional and seemed to have a genuine rapport with one another and with customers. So, if you're looking for a quick bite that's relatively affordable, you can give this A &W location a try.

recently visited A&W for a quick bite, and I was impressed with their service. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I loved the crispy fries, and their root beer was perfectly chilled. It's great for a fast food option when you're in a hurry but still want something satisfying. Overall, a solid choice for a quick meal!"

I absolutely love the breakfast there however the best thing about eating there is the atmosphere. The warm greetings professionalism with the wholesome hospitality is so satisfying especially these days when everyone is not at their best in whatever aspect of life may be difficult. It’s also a place that can have the best meals and be able to do some reading.
So if you want great food and a place to pull out your laptop and catch on some work or just enjoy a good meal, I encourage you to take time and visit you won’t be disappointed.

By now, I think most people are quite familiar with Subway and all the different types of sub sandwiches you can get. This Subway location is right near Coxwell Subway station, Coxwell and Danforth.
I see mixed reviews and as with most franchises, I think it depends on when you go, who's working that day, and all those other factors. Considering all that, on my visit, the staff were professional and I received my subs in good order. Toppings were running low when I got there but staff had no issues getting more ingredients when I inquired. Featured in the images are the Canadian club and Italian BMT. As you can probably tell, we like a lot of vegetables on our subs!
For anyone who has never been to a Subway before, you can choose the sub sandwich you want, choose the type of bread you want, and add vegetable toppings and sauces to really customize the sub sandwich to your liking. Subway also has rice bowls, wraps, and cookies as well. Not gonna lie, their cookies are pretty phenomenal (though not featured here). Some of their newer toppings are fun - try the fried onions. They add a nice crunch to the sub.
This comment is for Subway in general and has no bearing on this particular location. One thing I get annoyed by is the way the Subway menu is now featuring certain sub sandwiches. Some of their classics like the Italian BMT are really buried on the menu.
Overall, if you're looking for a quick food fix, you can try give this Subway location a try.

Great friendly service at the Coxwell Subway with Jeel who made our sandwiches today. She was very careful about being clean washing her hands after using cash and returning to make our sandwiches. She asked how we would like them and all the toppings we would like. Putting the sandwiches together carefully so inside and sauce did not make a mess. Thank you for the amazing service ❤️ 🙏 😀

This bar definitely feels sketchy upon first glance but honestly I felt very safe there. There are a lot of pride flags around and they have none gendered bathrooms! So great to have a friendly, welcoming, lgbtq friendly space in Toronto's East End. Awesome drink selection with bar rail and top shelf liquor, vodka soda cans, beers (bottle, tall cans and draught). Finger food selection is pretty on point too. See menu in the pics below. They even have a nacho with cheese station. Highly recommended!

I visited Barburrito around 9 PM, and even though it was a little busy, the service was impressively fast. The food arrived warm, and the taste did not disappoint! The portion of protein was just right, making it a satisfying meal. I highly recommend trying their tacos—they were absolutely delicious! Ordered via SkipTheDishes and went to go picked up. My order wasn’t recognized in the system and wasn’t ready for it to be picked up. They had to make my order which took around 15-20 mins. They did apologize and gave me a Diet Coke, but made a comment and insisted I took a water bottle instead. It was a kind gesture regardless.
Overall the serving size was pretty small and the meat was cold. I ordered the jerk chicken and the regular mild chicken but frankly they tasted the same.
Their service did make up for it, but I would never be going back

If you're looking for authentic food - look no more. This place not only has awesomely tasting food, but their coffee is outstanding!
On the hot summer days you definitely want to sit at their patio covered by trees to provide some relief. I was there for a dinner when it was like +32 outside. I was able to enjoy my vegetarian plate in a comfortable atmosphere.

Meat Platter Combo of cooked kitfo, tibs, chacha tibs, split peas, lentil, collard greens, and three portions of injera. Kitfo was well seasoned and spiced, while the tibs had a much more buttery, aromatic flavour. Chacha had a caramelized onion and black pepper sauce which had lots of umami with a rich sweetness, and a slight lamb gameyness. All meats were well done so it was a little tough and dry. Injera wasn't overly sour either and was quite nice to eat.

I've been to many ethopian restaurants in Toronto and this one beats all by far. The taste, portion size (eat in), and flavors was not lacking at all. My go-to place for authentic ethopian food.
Anita R - a month ago
This is the first time we were very disappointed with Ethiopian food. The young lady got our order wrong. The Tibs and the meat/vegetables platter weren't satisfactory at all.
When we mentioned to the other lady (Hadash, I believe), she brought us some gravy of the Dorowot, which was the real thing! I wonder why they don't prepare all the dishes with typical Ethiopian spices!
To make up for the disappointment, she served us Ethiopian coffee.

Stopped in for lunch and so happy we did. The shrimp ceviche was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. We also ordered the Reina arepas and pork empanadas. Loved having so many gluten free options! Lattes were also amazing. Great service and cozy vibe. We will definitely be back soon!

Such a great vibe and atmosphere at this little cafe - I love coming here for an afternoon pick me up or for lunch. Great selection of sweet treats and creative drink options. The meal options are also on point and pricing is very reasonable. They have a great indoor seating area and also a cute little patio outside. Service is amazing and always very friendly. My favorites are the empanadas, arepas, smoothies, hot chocolate, cookies and of course the Maria Luisa cake!

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Good ambiance, and they hv a tiny patio in the front but ample seating in the back.
Staff is friendly and almost attentive.
We ordered the pork with pickled watermelon arepa, and hibiscus & cauliflower arepa.
The vegetarian arepa was good but the pork one was very soupy, and we had to get a change of plates as the liquid poured all over the plate and broke the bread. It was tasty but wud hv preferred more pickled watermelon to balance the flavours.
Espresso was alright - machine needs better cleaning.
A tad expensive in terms of value for money.

Wow this place blew my mind how good it was. The regular sized breakfast arepa was outstanding! Those flavors and the soft texture of the filling was outrageously good! The sous vide chicken arepa (Reina) was, O.M.G. For dessert, you MUST have the Tres Leches Cake. I could drink this cake is how good it was. Service was friendly and on-point. Bookmarked this spot as a few favorite!

My wife and I visited this place for lunch as it caught our eye while we were walking from the TTC Coxwell Subway station. We had never had Venezuelan food and decided to give it a try and boy…… We are so very happy we did.
The restaurant looks great and has a relaxed atmosphere that made us feel very welcome. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us understand the items on the Menu.
We both decided to enjoy some Arepas, something both had never had before. My Wife had the La culpa es de la vaca (Pulled Beef) and the flavor of the beef was amazing and the toppings were the perfect complement to the meat, the balance was dead on. I had the Reina (Sous-vide chicken) that was so tasty. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the flavors infused were just fantastic. We both were blown away with the quality and care put into this food.
We also had a couple of their Empanadas. My wife had the Chuleta Empanada (Smoked pork shoulder) and I had the Beef Empanada and both were great. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. They also supplied us with some sauces that just added to the whole meal, just making the whole experience even better.
The last thing we had were some Churros. My Wife loves Churros and said these were some of the best she had.
In conclusion, if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a nice place to eat, you can’t go wrong with eating here. We both loved the food and the place and fully plan on coming back.
