The cozy atmosphere and wonderful service made this dining experience a true highlight to our trip. The food was delicious and fresh. It was a hearty, homemade French meal. My husband had baked fish and I had a ratatouille quiche. This did not feel like a space where many tourists visit. It was a wonderful find for us and gave us a chance to experience French cuisine not too far from our hotel. The server and chef were gracious. It is a place we hope to return to someday.

Dropped by this quaint place during our son’s birthday. We were all tired from walking around the whole day, but there server really made us feel welcome, traditional French cuisine which was fantastic. They even gave us free slices of cake to celebrate our son’s birthday.
Came back the next day to have more food and dessert :)

needed a warm place to retreat from the cold after visiting Shakespeare & Co. and stumbled upon this lovely restaurant. had tea while waiting for dinner service which only starts at 7pm. they have wifi if you need it. it's a beautiful, elegant and quaint space. i love that it's dimly lit, gives you a very 80s-restaurant -n french-movies ambience, along with the framed artwork and shelved books. ordered croquettes de camembert (most divine), daube de bœuf (which comes with tagliatelle) and the salad that comes with cheese. they were all delicious. the waitstaff were warm and friendly.

If you're a bit tired of crowds, bistrot food or touristy spots this is an awesome little nook. Great homey French food (vegetables for the win!) with a calm atmosphere. Our family of three loved it after a busy four days in Paris.

It was an interesting experience to try the kushiage concept (Japanese deep fried food on a stick). We took the 58€ menu to have the sashimi, sushi and palate cleanser on top of the basic 48€ menu. The frying technique was good, crispy, no soggy (except the scallop). But not much flavors lingering in my mind though, or maybe we are too used to french dishes which always pair the main ingredients with the sauce to elevate the flavors. In any case, worth a try for the concept.
Ps: we really liked their green mustard
Tam Le - 4 months ago
It was good but did not keep up to our expectations. The service was super friendly and fast. We ordered the menu with the extra sashimi. All in all, you get plenty of small dishes. They are good but miss richness in flavor. On the other hand, the sauce given to the fried sticks, tasted like a very salty Worcestershire sauce not fitting in my opinion.

The food was great and the chef was so welcoming. Thank you very much for a great experience.

We tried 58 euro menu.
1 more sashimi and Chazuke than the 48 euro menu.
15 different fried meat, vegetables and seafood.
Try the Sake there to pair the fried food, it will give you some fresh feeling.
The price is very reasonable for Paris. Recommend people who like the fried food to visit, but not a place for good sushi or sashimi.

The sashimi was in my opinion the star of all the courses presented. The place specializes in tempura. I have to admit that everything was great to the exception of the rice soup that was too salty and some tempuras like the courgette or brocoli lacked some in depth flavors and the matcha dessert that was too sweet for my taste. The squid and the foie gras tempura were outstanding.

My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon together in Paris at Le Balzar. The food and drinks was delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere was so romantic. The service from Kelly was perfect and he was able to recommend cuisines perfect for our special night. Kelly really got to know us and plan something special for us. Knowing someone who can speak English really help helped us out.

I arrived at Paris CDG airport at 630am after two days of travel, I was tired and flat... by 830 I was sitting at a table in the sun, with an amazing simple breakfast looking at beautiful buildings and laughing with amazing staff who very generously put up with my terrible French.
A fresh, simple breakfast, in an amazing atmosphere, with friendly people. I looked it over beautiful old buildings and interesting people coming and going I was reminded why I love Paris and was renewed. That is the kind of experience that should be rewarded with five stars.

Great experience at Brasserie Balzar. The food was good. My only knock on my food was my steak was a bit overcooked. Otherwise traditional Brasserie food was spot on. However what makes this place is the service. The staff was excellent friendly and made for a excellent experience

We had a very lovely meal here. French service is usually a bit scruffy but here it was delightful, with a smile, jokes and a wonderful atmosphere.
We will be back.
All the love from Germany 💕

Came here due to a recommendation from the concierge.
I had the Beef Bourguignon (pictured) and my brother and dad had the steak.
Meal was good, nothing to complain about, nor write home about.
Great atmosphere sitting on the street.
Had the ‘Caramel Cream’ (pictured) for dessert. It was fantastic and definitely the stand out from the meal.

Excellent Indian food. I lived in Mumbai for 5 months and also am an avid Indian foodie! I first came here 21 years ago & now I’m back in Paris I made sure to find it! Excellent food! The palak paneer is excellent and I remember the butter chicken was incredible too! I had the prix fixe menu with salmon tikka!

We booked this place based on Google reviews and were very satisfied. The staff were very hospitable, spoke English enough for us to order with no errors and were polite as ever. We ordered drinks, starters and mains and were not left waiting despite it being relatively busy. The food was outstanding. The lamb korma has to be one of the best I’ve had. I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Paris and are looking for good dinner vibes in the Latin quarter. Ask for a seat by the window for some people watching entertainment!

Second time in this place, this time weekend and it was just wonderful. Ambiance, live singing and piano, delicious food and drinks, friendly staff. This is a place for people who love live singing and edgy panache atmosphere. We were lucky to have different performers and everyone is so talented. This place is for people with a soul 🥰 who appreciate warmth ams passion vibes. I always make reservations to guarantee immediate availability. Gets really busy after 9pm.

Food was OK, nothing extraordinary, the food arrived a bit cold, but the taste was there..
We didn't know beforehand, which show it will be so I would advise to check before booking. The atmosphere was good, it became very festive and dancing started late in the night :)

Unforgettable, real Parisian atmosphere at this cute piano bar. I am humming "J'ai deux amours" while writing this review :)
The majority of the guests were locals, many of them regulars.
The food was very good, the service was friendly and very attentive.
I wish I could add some more stars.

Truly exceptional. The chef's concept was a welcome surprise, different from many Michelin star restaurants. The menu is seasonal of course and the overall experience is worth writing about. The wine pairing was well worth it, varying between wine and sake. We left thoroughly amused, satiated without being overly full, and only a little bit tipsy. We sat in the mineral lounge, which I preferred. Highly recommend.

Don’t miss this unique dining experience. The service was especially interactive because you are not told the dishes in advance and get to discuss flavors between courses. Perfect to celebrate a special occasion. Highly recommend wine/sake pairing as well as sitting in the “cave”!
Katie Bailey - 4 months ago
Excellent dining experiencewith the fusion of French and Japanese cuisine being exceptionally well-executed. Every dish was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My personal favourites were the lobster soup and the pork. The lobster soup had a rich, robust flavour, and the hint of spiciness added a wonderful depth to the dish. The pork was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection. Their wine pairing was also good as well.
The staff were very professional, offering detailed explanations of the menu. The interactive element of guessing the ingredients in each dish was also unique and interesting, adding an engaging twist to the meal. Even though sometimes can be challenging. They also took the time to thoroughly explain the restaurant’s sustainability concept, from reusing broken plates to utilising every part of the ingredients to minimise food waste.
The basement seating area is nice, but the only downside is the lack of mobile signal or Wi-Fi, which we were informed before being seated. While I understand the restaurant’s aim to encourage guests to focus on the food, it would still be better to have internet access downstairs.
Overall, it’s a good restaurant and definitely worth a special visit when you’re in Paris, especially if you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine but are looking to try something new. I would recommend it!

Omakase at its best. Nice people, creative, well executed food, nicely presented. Some dishes are spectacular. Only personal drawback: Uninspired bar-something piano music in the background that does not make any sense. But this place deserves a visit. The wine and sake pairing also worked well.
Update Fall 2024: In six months, prices were raised significantly. Prices just turned
From from fair to borderline expensive. This i had to lower the rating to four stars.

The waitress, the food, the wine, the live jazz, the atmosphere....what can I say....AMAZING! My favorite part beyond the music was the intimacy of the restaurant/jazz bar. The service was quick. I could see the man in the kitchen working diligently to get everyone's orders out hot and fresh. The waitress had great recommendations for a snack and wine.

We came here for drinks with some friends on Saturday night and we were pleasantly surprised when we saw there was live music. Very cozy and vibrant place. Even though we missed the happy hour, prices for the wine list were very decent for Paris standards. For beer lovers, they have an extensive selection of draught and international beer. The waiter was very attentive and nice to us.

We came to Monk for a late dinner and since it was pouring rain outside we decided to take a table deep inside the restaurant. From our table we could see the water running down the cobblestone street and hear the thunders but we were warm and protected from the wind and cold.
We had the hamburger without the cheese and beef tab with French fries. Both portions were big enough to satisfy the strong appetite. The beef was very tender and juicy. It was served with a tiny dish with caramelized onions and a small garden salad.
The service was quick and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The prices are reasonable too.
It was interesting to hear Freddy Mercury, Queens, The Weekend and Ariana Grande as a background music in France.
We also ordered a warm chocolate dessert with a vanilla ice cream, but couldn’t finish it. It was very good, only we overestimated our abilities. 😊
We had our very late dinner and when we left around 11:00 pm and there were still people in the restaurant.
I definitely recommend you to try this place.

Looking for a tea house to have our tea break, and came across this place in our search. Located in a side road with 8 tables on the outdoors, it was rather full when we arrived and had only 1 seat that’s not under the shade ☂
The menu was unfortunately not available in English, and we weren’t given and guidance on how to best utilise the “sets” they have available on the first page of their menu in French.
🫖 we ordered the “autome” and “lavender” tea, and both tasted okay, not the best we tasted but was good enough if weren’t too particular about it
🍰 the chocolate fondant wasn’t the best we had, though fudgy in the middle, it wasn’t thick enough for our liking
⏰ with only 1 server manning the seats, taking orders, serving the tables and running the bills, she definitely wasn’t able to cope and was often seen running around to catch up..
Overall, it wasn’t the best quality tea nor cake we had, coupled with the slow service due to understaffing, we probably wouldn’t recommend this as a good tea house to others.

The Tea Caddy is quite a hidden tea place in the heart of Paris. The foods are well prepared and go well with the tea selections. However you will probably not find any English breakfast or Earl Grey here.
