This is one of the best tables in Montreal and I stand by it - I've been dining at Bouillon Bilk for almost 10 years.
If you like scallops, their version is a classic for a reason. Always perfectly cooked and paired with seasonal vegetables. Keep the bread to pick up all the delicious sauces that come with the dish.
All the other entrees and main are good, creative and beautiful to look at. The service is premium - I never got a bad wine pairing with my meal.
I highly recommend!

What an amazing way to end a trip. Bullion Bilk upheld their esteemed reputation and then some. 8 course tasting menu was unreal. Each dish had something to offer. New flavours and experiences to be had in each bite. Dropped a bag and left happy to do so.

What an excellent dining experience! We did the 8 course set with a non-alcoholic drink pairing as well as the Canadian wine pairing. Almost all of the non-alcoholic drinks were fantastic (the mushroom kombu beverage was not good at all however) and the wine was expertly paired.
The food was well thought out, beautifully presented, and had great flavours. It was contemporary but had classic but elevated flavours. Service was fantastic and the ambiance was okay. The food was the highlight of the experience, however, we would have opted for the 5-course instead of the 8-course in hindsight. The 3 additional dishes that we got as part of the 8-course were our least favourite (beets, trout, & chocolate).
I would come back for a special occasion sometime. Prices are fair, and we left feeling quite full!
9.2/10!

The new space is very beautiful, tall ceilings. Very open airy space, a little dark but goes with the ambiance.
They offer tasting menus (5 or 8 courses) as well as a La carte. As it was a special celebration, we went with the 5 course tasting menu. Just a note, the 8 courses are only available after 8 PM.
The food was beautifully plated and extremely tasty! Also we were all shocked with the size of the plates. With some other restaurants, their testing menu plates can be pretty small. But here, they were generous! We definitely did not leave hungry!
The lamb filled cappellini was so good, it came with mushrooms which my boyfriend hates. But he actually loved these ones which is saying A LOT!
The duck was super flavorful and tender. The sauce was amazing!
I am missing the picture of the dessert, which was squash-based. Standard Asian compliment for dessert: not too sweet! Lots of different texture elements making it a real treat.
The service was excellent. Very attentive and polite! It was a pleasure.
This place hasn't disappointed! Last time I visited was 5 years ago and this meal was even better! Definitely recommend for a special occasion!

New location is a let down.
The food changed from the previous location. The food was overall lacking in flavours and missed the wow factor they used to have before with the modern french fusion. The most memorable dish was the duck with the extra foie gras (the extra is recommended), thought the duck was not tender which made the dish as a whole disappointing, the foie gras poêlé was a huge hit.
The service was very slow while the place wasn't very full. They we're probably understaffed, we did notice that they grouped up often at the bar just to chit chat. Beside that, the waiters were very keen to details and helpful when you were able to get a hold of them. My experience at the restaurant took 2 hours and 30 mins, the 5 courses were served over the span of 2 hours.
The atmosphere is very quiet and the decor is very modern, it gives out a very classy and delicate feels to it.
Pre incident that forced the first location closed, this restaurant used to be in my top 3 restaurants in Montréal, unfortunately with the reopening, it fell down my list and I wouldn't recommend this place anymore.

I'm Vietnamese but I couldn't imagine that my homeland's specialties are delicious in this overseas place, The staffs were very friendly and enthusiastic. I have returned to Vietnam but still feel nostalgic, i wish i have a chance to come back Montreal to try another foods in restaurant .

We passed in front of this restaurant quite a few times as we live nearby. we were looking for something different to eat so we decided to give it a try. Actually Lia had already been with some colleagues from her previous employment.
The interior decor is quite simple, the menu heavily favours combo options . We decided to go with the crispy chicken and rice as well as the pho. Service was OK. We kind of wish that we felt more welcome.
Accessing the restaurant by foot is quite easy. Parking is a different story. if you’re lucky you may find street parking on Saint Catherine St. otherwise there are a few parking lots available in the area.

I have been looking forward to go back since Covid, as it remained close and only started to be open for 3 days a week recently.
We had the 7 Beef course set meal and it was better than I remembered. Given the price went up, but generally dining out got expensive due to many factors.
If you have not try their specialties 7 beef courses meal, it is a must try next time you come here!!

It's a downtown delight that not only offers a stellar service and chic ambience but also surprises with its reasonable prices. The attentive staff, sporting smiles, made us feel truly welcome. The sommelier ensured our glasses were never empty. The seafood stir fry served on trendy dinnerware was spot on. We loved the stylish, softly lit vibe - it was the perfect backdrop for an intimate evening. It's the perfect spot to enjoy an early dinner before heading to an event in the vicinity.

It was such an amazing experience to try the 7 course beef, $90/2 persons. We also ordered the grilled calamari, the side sauce was super spicy 🥵

We are vietnamese. We have known Ong Ca Can for 3 decades. We still enjoy their food. The portions are generous. The food is great. I am told this restaurant opened in 1984 and is still owned and operated by the same family. I definitely recommend.

Couldn't recommend it more. Beautiful restaurant serving amazing, authentic food and run by a kind Vietnamese family. A great place to expand your experience with Vietnamese cuisine - try the 7 beef specialty and the chao tom, grilled shrimp wrapped around sugarcane. Everything was super fresh, the meats were cooked perfectly and the flavour was to die for. The traditional components of the dishes e.g. fish sauce and bun (vermicelli) were spot on, while they also put their own stamp on other components. Very reasonable for the quality and level of service.

I was actually going for dinner and passing my this place and found this vibrant place! I stopped by as was curious to find out about this place and understood that there’s a improv play in the next 10 mins. I seemed interesting and decided to stay back( cancelled dinner plans) and must say it was fun experience! The improv artists were amazing with great acting( improv) ..I got to meet some artists( who do this part time/ hobby) and very humble and talented bunch of people.. Cafe was nice too with good options and some great cocktails too..
Highly recommended to visit for the overall package - plays/ performances/people and cafe.. excellent vibes ..

One of the few remaining really authentic places left in Montreal. I like their steamies. I don't often like fries, but I like theirs. I love sitting in that one seat at the front window and watching the world go by on St Laurent. Cash only!
William Binns - 2 months ago
The poutine was delectable, gravy and cheesy sauce over fresh, thick cuts of just-fried fries. Patient staff, well-managed (especially to the clueless tourists in front of me). Poutines and fries come in small and large sizes: shareable. Popular with locals and us foreigners. Burgers and hot dogs a staple too. Fun, casual, bus your own tray. Nice spot on the epic Saint Laurent Avenue.

Montreal Pool Room: A Legendary Experience
My visit to the Pool Room was an unforgettable one. The poutine was the best I've ever had, the fries were perfectly crispy, the gravy was like nothing I've tasted before – authentic and delicious.
Their all-dressed steamy hotdogs were like a hug from within, with perfectly buttered buns and fresh garnishes.
Family ran and operated, The restaurant's history is impressive – it's been around for over a hundred years!
I can't wait to go back for more poutine🍁

Decent classic style of poutine, made just how it should be with lots of gravy and cheese curds. Ordered their steamed hot dogs which were just okay. Good place to get quick poutine if you have a craving.

The food took HOURS to come...and we still had people that didn't have our food....I have no idea what happened but I think they need to train their staff a little bit more... something went completely wrong at our stay...
It was the first day of our waitress and she was so sweet and nice. She just didn't get enough training or wasn't paired with someone with experience to help her. It just felt unfair to her honestly....I felt bad for her, she did the best she could.
I would avoid this place unfortunately, but if you're reading this waitress, you didn't do anything wrong you did the best you could and don't let anyone put you down, I really blame the owner of this restaurant that really let you and us down.

I like the seating of this restaurant. Although there’s air con but the restaurant is completely open to the side walk. There are no windows. It’s like sitting in the outside enjoying the fresh air and watch the cars and people going by. It’s a popular place. Crowded. The souvlaki combo is $20 tax included. Portion is generous. Fried potatoes are crispy. Rice and meats are tasty. They put all the sauce you requested in the bowl. But we did go back to ask for some garlic sauce to dip my pita bread. The staff are accommodating. I like this better than souvlaki bar. I’ll return.

Got the chicken shawarma plate and it was delicious. Chicken was seasoned well and the potatoes & garlic sauce were a great combo. The hot sauce is so flavourful as well. Would come back again!

One of the best beef shawarma I have ever had.
I am so glad we decided to do a late night venture from our hotel room and find this gem. The only down side of eating here is that I am now ruined for eating donairs or shawarma back home in Alberta. Nothing will compare to their toppings and portion sizes. The hummus on the pita just made it pop so much and the meat was done to flavourful perfection.
The service was amazing and super friendly which just made the experience that much more. Also, super clean and really fresh, especially for a Friday night close to midnight.
Candice Beyer - 2 months ago
We ordered mixed shawarma plates, and they were super fresh and tasted amazing.
We forgot to add salad to our plate, so we went back to buy it, and the cashier refused to let us pay for it.
Everybody was nice and respectful, so I really don't know what all those complainers are talking about.

Food was okay. But for 45 dollars after tip, I should have gone to Harvey's. 1 trio and a chicken burger shouldn't be this pricy. The breaded chicken for the chicken burger was so thin. It looked like it was bought from the frozen section of a grocery store. I do approve of their french fries. It's crispy and well fried. Their cheeseburger was nothing special. For the atmosphere, we had several house flies buzzing about.

Darbar deserves all the stars! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was simply incredible—authentic Indian cuisine at its finest. The attention to detail in the flavors made each bite unforgettable. You must also try their one-of-a-kind drinks!

I had an amazing meal here with a friend— as a lover of Indian food and flavours I’ve tried many different restaurants in various cities. I was deeply impressed with this restaurant’s warmth, hospitality and delicious dishes. The chef is highly involved in his guests’ culinary experience and takes care to check in— I would highly recommend this restaurant, their food and caring staff — can’t wait to return!

We had an amazing evening at Darbar. The food is excellent: flavorful, authentic yet modern, and well balanced. Cocktails were also good, but what we loved most was definitely the service. The chef/owner was patient, welcoming and gave us great recommendations; we could sense his passion and his love for his craft, which contributed in making the meal a memorable one.
We will definitely be back!

For the past few years, I've done my best to come here a few times a year. It's a little inconvenient, and Montreal has no shortage of great Indian food, but this place is special. Before saying a word about the food, it's worth noting the resiliency of this establishment. Faced with barriers, literal ones put up by the city's slow-moving roadwork, it has continued to fight on to preserve the memories of the family that created it. I consider going here, in some ways, a political act. That said, given how good the food is, it doesn't take much to get inspired to go.
The presentation of the food is as wonderful as its flavors — the small touches, like literal flowers, bring every dish to the next level. I find that everything I try here is always an elevated version of the comforting flavors I've had elsewhere.
The chef is sensitive to spice tolerance (I can handle the heat, but my partner less so), which makes it a good spot for everyone. I've been treated with the experience of trying new desserts in the works and given great advice on wine pairings. I brought my toddler once and they went out of their way to keep her occupied with little snacks along the way so we didn't feel we had to manage her too much or rush out.
All of this to say, that if you're looking for a delicious meal from a place that earns every penny it makes, go here and you will not be disappointed!

I was walking back to my car after an event, hungry and deciding where to eat. From across the street, I could smell the food from outside and decided to walk in! Best decision!
The hostess/ waitress was very kind, the food was absolutely delicious (I had the Dahl soup and meat thali), perfectly portioned as well as totally fair priced IMO. I would go there again and recommend in a heart beat!

A small Italian eatery nestled in the heart of Montreal. Friendly staff welcomed us into this cozy restaurant which has limited but satisfying Italian dishes. The food was freshly prepared and our party enjoyed all of the plates. Prices were on the inexpensive end for this non-upscale restaurant. We would eat here again but would try other restaurants in the area first. For those looking to mix things up without getting dangerous, try their pizzaghetti.
