This lovely hotel is v modern and the shower cubicle with a window into the bedroom takes a bit of getting used to but did make the bathroom much brighter. Maybe a blind or opaque glass could be added?
Bed was so comfortable and the view from our window at night was spectacular (as shown) with all the building lights. Our room was on the 20th floor so lovely and quiet.
Delicious breakfast and plenty of choice. Unlimited free coffee refills greatly appreciated.
All the staff were so nice and helpful.
Late check out available at midday was most unexpected, and it really felt that the hotel/staff couldn't do enough to welcome you.

Everyone was wonderful from the very first front desk to the restaurant staff to housekeeping. The Nespresso and hot water kettle were a nice touch. They had a water fountain by the elevators with refrigerated water. The best part was the bed—it was much more comfortable than most hotel beds!
Edited to add: I changed my five star review to four stars. People call this affordable luxury, which I think references the room, but I give this an overall four stars because I think the front desk service could improve significantly. The staff are very passive and quiet, not reaching out unless you ask questions. I also wish they had told me these things beforehand: housekeeping will come and clean your room even if you set your room to “do not disturb,” the water kettle may need a cleaning, and I received no welcome drink or note like the other patrons posted about (but I was granted an early check-in). In fact, people came into my room multiple times a day because my room would change each time I leave my room—I wonder if they were overcompensating for not coming the day before, even though that was what I had wanted and told them in person. (However, the housekeeping staff was lovely.) Lastly, the shower has a glass wall that leaves no room for privacy from anyone else in the room, so it is best to travel solo or with a romantic partner if you stay here. Also, I had tried to book a taxi the day before with the front desk, and they weren’t helpful and suggested I call Uber which canceled on me—I strongly recommend calling cabs if you need to be on time.

Our first time staying at Le Germain and certainly not our last. The service was outstanding, the rooms impeccably clean and well appointed, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect.
An elegant but unstuffy hotel that you will certainly remember and stay at again on your next trip back to beautiful Montreal!

Stayed here for a few nights on a business trip and enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. The crew was friendly and responsive. The hotel is located in an area with plenty of choices of restaurants. The price was reasonable considering the scale of service I was getting.

This is by far the best hotel and best value stay we have had in Montreal. The room felt fresh, clean, modern and well considered. The bed was sooooo comfy and the shower was great. Nespresso coffee in room is always a plus, but a reminder that the European traveler likes the 2% milk with it. The arrival sequence was simple, we asked to store our luggage as we arrived early and to our delight the room was already ready so we were allowed to go straight up. They had our preordered welcome drinks all ready and a lovely welcome note to go with it. We had late drinks in the bar with some nibbles which were also tasty. Would recommend.

Great food.a local breakfast favorite. Very popular and tends to be hustling bustling. We ordered veggie crepes and meat lovers omelette, which were great.
There might be a wait time, but it tends to move quickly. DJ also there on Saturdays brunch time to liven to the place.

Perfect destination for visitors to the city to try Montreal smoked meat. Perfect diner vibes, comforting food that was very tasty and fresh. Service was friendly and down to earth. The fries are unique and scrumptious. Highly recommend their famous strawberry cheesecake, made fresh in-house. It is GIRTHY. One piece is perfect to share. I will be back!

It's my first time having a "proper poutine" and it's not a disappointment at all! I went with the original Quebecois poutine and add some bacon in it. SUPER YUMMY! We were there on lunch time, the place was packed but they have enough staffs to keep the business flow which is such a plus! Impressive!
The plate is super bug as well, very worth the money! Recommended!

We had a great casual lunch at Dunn’s. Thoroughly enjoyed our smoked meat Reuben, but ESPECIALLY the coleslaw, which was vinegar based and honestly to die for. The fries were also very tasty and held very minimal oil, which is rare for hand cut. The portion was pretty big and definitely shareable. Our server was attentive and kind. Would definitely return!

This was our first stop after a 7hr car ride. We stopped by around 2pm on a Friday and we were seated immediately. Service was good, knowledgeable, quick, efficient. The food was good, but nothing special. Considering their smoked meat was highly suggested, I was expecting it to be out of this world. I had the smoked meat poutine as I tried to kill two birds with one stone, and maybe that was the wrong dish to order. It was just okay. Large portion, but not bursting with flavor. It was also served lukewarm.
I'd come back if I'm ever in the area again, but will definitely try something else.

I wish I could give Dunn's 4.5 stars. Everything was great.
We ordered the Reuben platter and Smoked Meat platter. Top notch flavor, fries were awesome, latkas were a nice touch as optional side.
The smoked meat was very good, moist and melting in the mouth. We rank the Reuben as better than the MSM sandwich but both excellent. Our only minor complaint would be to lightly toast the bread for the smoked meat sandwich. It was soggy and fell apart far too easily with the juiciness of the smoked meat. The rye on the Reuben fared much better.
Atmosphere is classic Montreal deli style. We loved the energy and vibe of the room. Dunn's on the lampposts is a nice touch. Classic rock playing at the right volume. Service was swift and cordial.
Just a very warm experience all around. Will visit again for sure. 4.5/5.

Very nice place and very welcoming !!
Perfect for a first date in my opinion if he or she loves sushi, cause I loved it 5 years ago when my now husband brought me there ;) and it's always nice to go back now.
The quality is still fantastic and the people are nice.
I recommend !!! For sure getting back soon :))

First time in shodan for lunch. We have ordered the sushi plate for 2 and added a sushi pizza.
I believe if we will be just full only have sushi plate for 2.adding pizza we r too full.
The fish are so fresh!
However I find the rice is abit too soft and doesn't taste enough vinegar. Thus 4/5 for the food.
Service is good, atmosphere is good.
Will come back and try the dinner menue, heard the specialty rolls are good too.
Sushi pizza is covered by smoked salmon. Find the rice is not crispy enough or maybe too thin to taste the crispness.

Once inside Sho-Dan, I found myself underwhelmed by the overall atmosphere. The décor lacks character, with plain white tablecloths and a lack of any distinctive features. Instead of exuding a sushi restaurant ambiance, it feels more like an upscale Italian establishment catering to an older demographic. Unfortunately, my initial impression fell short of excitement.
However, my disappointment took a turn when we decided to sample a variety of items from the menu. The sushi exceeded expectations, boasting a delightful freshness and appealing presentation. Accompanied by flavorful sauces, the culinary experience was elevated. The house drinks were also noteworthy, adding a positive note to our dining experience.
While the staff exhibited kindness, there was a slight lack of enthusiasm, though the service remained decent. In conclusion, it's a venue worth considering if you're seeking exceptionally good sushi. The culinary delights outweigh the lackluster ambiance, making it a destination for sushi enthusiasts.

I have been going to Sho-dan for 25 years. The food is always amazing, the atmosphere is great and the service exceptional. Our Mont Blanc masterpiece by Davina pictured below.
Other musts are the sushi pizza, beef sashimi, gyoza and of course all sushi is delicious.
Thank you for your hospitality throughout the years.

I just had the best time at Cafe Ferreira for a work event! We came in at 9 PM with a group of 10, and we were treated to a fabulous table d'hote menu featuring steak, prawns, veggies, and mushroom risotto. Everything was served buffet style, which was so convenient and fun, and it even came with dessert!
I have to say, the prawns and the risotto were definitely my favorites – they were absolutely delicious! The service was amazing, too; the staff was super attentive and always there for refills. Overall, it was such a great spot for our group event, and I can’t recommend it enough!

I visited McGill University in early November of 2024. A couple of university professors took me to Ferreira for dinner as I told them earlier that I liked seafood. There was a lot of options even among seafood. I ordered a salmon dish. The others ordered a variety of dishes. The dishes were plentiful. Later, we ordered a sampler of desserts. All dishes were very tasty. Overall, it was a very good dinner.

This is definitely a showcase restaurant for Portuguese seafood and cooking, from appetizers, main to deserts, it will brighten your day and will not disappoint. We went there as a party of three. We deliberately choose different items from the menu. We all decided to go back again for another time to have more.

Food: Exceptionally fresh seafood.
We ordered:
1) Seafood Platter: if you have two or more diners, don’t second guess. Just get it.
2) Roasted Sardines: one of our favorite dishes of the night.
3) Daily Catch: Incredible sea bream with an amazing chickpea salad and veggies. Everything perfectly cooked and seasoned.
4) Bouillabaisse: Highlight of the night. A must-try dish.
Service: Top notch. Attentive but not overbearing despite the fact that it was super super busy even on a Monday night.
Ambiance: We were seated in a quieter corner in the back and it was very nice.

I had the pleasure of dining at Reuben’s Deli recently, and I must say, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The quality of the meat was outstanding — tender, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. Every bite melted in my mouth. Whether you’re craving a delicious sandwich or one of their specialty dishes, you won’t be disappointed.
I tried several items, from their juicy sandwiches to the perfectly crispy fries, and everything was impeccable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent, making the overall experience even better.
If you’re in the area and looking for some of the best deli meats around, Reuben’s is a must-visit! Highly recommend!

It was okay but I feel like it's little hyped by social media. I was recommended the famous sandwich, but it was too salty and just salty... idk why it's so famous ... should've tried something else maybe...?
The entire experience was not as good as I expected reading all the good reviews...
Plus, it was pretty expensive considering what I ordered and received.

Visited Reuben's while in Montreal to try as many Montreal Smoked meat places as I could.. and Reuben's did not disappoint. The restaurant is more upscale than other smoked meat places. The place is very nice and staff is very friendly. The sandwiches are delicious and flavourful. I do like it better than Dunn's. But its a different type of place as well. Great Lunch.

I was really disappointed with the service. When I asked the staff for recommendations on their signature dishes, he simply replied that everyone has different tastes, he didn’t know what to recommend. He didn’t even try to introduce 1 or 2 restaurant’s dishes and just told us to look at the menu and decide for ourselves.
This was the first time I’ve encountered a restaurant in Canada where the staff couldn’t suggest their own signature dishes or seemed unwilling to help with food recommendations. Definitely not worth leaving a tip.

Went there for my son's birthday dinner. The food was okay, nothing special, especially considering the price. The atmosphere was on point, and so was the service, but still felt it wasn't worth the buck.

Not for South Indians and lesser vegetarian options but the place is really great for dinner dates. Got a chaat and veg biryani. It was full of mint flavour and the chaat was served cold usually. Baigan bharta was really good as well. Take everything medium spicy. Indian level spicy is not predicted. Once it was extremely spicy and once it was not very spicy. Medium level of consistency is maintained well all the time here.

Had my first visit to this Indian restaurant a year ago today & I loved it, especially the spicy turnips which were my standout favorite. That evening was magical and remains a cherished memory. The experience brings a smile to my face, and I still can't forget it.

Great location with very nice decor. Has a beautiful intimate vibe with dimmed lights.
Their butter chicken was disappointing specifically for the price. You can eat better butter chicken in lots of different restaurants for cheaper.
Their garlic nan bread I must say with their samosas were delicious!
Good spot to try out once but you can find lots of better restaurants and you will end up saving half of what you spend here on your bill.

Me and my partner are regulars. The food quality is comparable to some higher-end restaurants while having a much more relaxed atmosphere. The meals, drinks and deserts never dissapoint us, however if you're not happy the staff does take feedback. The staff is super friendly and professional, our server Jana is the best, had to shout her out. But big props to the whole team. Even on their busiest nights, service is still very good.

I was searching for a place for a light meal near our hotel. This diner bar popped up on my radar. Didn’t expect this place to be suitable for kids. They even have a kids menu (not a physical one but a verbal one).
When we arrived, we felt under dressed since there were patrons in smart casual attire. We were immediately guided upstairs where there were casually dressed people like us. We notice a few tables with families with kids. Our kids ordered mac and cheese unfortunately did not taste good and the burger wasn’t the best. They ordered an orange juice but got apple. Kids didn’t even have the appetite for dessert.
The music was too loud to even communicate properly which let to a miscommunication and mix up of an order. Thankfully they rectified it.
Overall this place wasn’t for us, but I guess others might say otherwise.

This location is next to a hotel and has an upscale ambiance. There is also a covered terrace in front just off the street. We ordered the banana strawberry Nutella toast and the combo eggs and waffle with extra toast. The coffee was additional. The waffle has syrup for the table included. The texture of the waffle was just a bit harder than I like but still okay. The french toast and potatoes were great. The portion sizes are quite generous. There is plenty of seating for one person up to medium-sized groups. The menu has vegetarian options for brunch and dinner.

Been talking about going here for years but never got around to it. I regret not going sooner. A bit of nostalgia with the checkered red and white table cloth's and relaxed atmosphere. The food was great, you can't go wrong with a real wood fired oven pizza or calzone. The service was amazing. The only small thing I noticed was the lighting as there was alot of mismatched bulbs, as in ultra bright whites and subdued off whites. Easy fix. Will be back!

Very old but functioning. Used to be better but now you can notice that they no on get keep up the standard and are lacking no in many areas. Food is not prepared by Italians anymore but still good tasting. Service is poor with only one person working the entire floor. Atmosphere is below average at this point dirty floors old old carpets old chairs etc

This was our first time here. The place was quiet and relaxed feel to it. We went around 6:20 pm. We ordered their minestrone soup, and it was delicious. We had pepperoni pizza, cooked in a pizza oven. The pizza was excellent.

Restaurant Siciliana had a somewhat authentic Italian feel to it, with a cozy atmosphere. The food had great flavor, and I enjoyed the tortellini soup and chicken parmesan. However, the chicken was so thin that it ended up overcooked and a little hard around the edges.
Unfortunately, the experience was marred by some issues. Some of the staff were sitting at tables playing on their phones and just staring around, which made me feel uncomfortable. Additionally, the restaurant was filled with fumes from the brick oven and looked smokey. You could see the black char going up the brick oven and on the ceiling tiles.
Overall, I would not recommend Restaurant Siciliana if you are visiting Montreal.
