Nice old pub not too far from Guildhall Art Gallery. Staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a good selection of beers on tap. The jazz music playing made it feel really relaxing

Small but pleasant old style pub with some interesting history. For those with a preference for Shepard's neane drinks will enjoy.

Back alley classic London pub hidden in a narrow lane of the City. Superb London street drinking. Dark wood Victorian city pub interior. Excellent larger than it looks, split level drinking hall with plenty of open space, quiet corners and mix of vintage, leather studded, wood framed corner benches and high stools. Wood panelled walls and brilliant wood beamed ceiling. Glass paned and balustrades divide the space creating and open feeling, yet secluded and private corners. Excellent, retained features and layout allow you to imagine pub history from over a hundred years ago. Well balanced sounds, an place for open chat with groups, this pub has character on tap.

I went for a Christmas booking with sit down meal served in the upstairs function room.
The setting is great, it's an ancient boozer and it looks it (in the nicest possible way!). The venue has plenty of history. Staff were attentive and kept checking on us. The food was surprisingly good and well worth the set menu price. We shared our room with another party but didn't feel on top of each other at all.
Recommended for an intimate function.

It was a honour to be part of the 2 course winter complimentary menu. The food was amazing! The staff was friendly. Everything was amazing. Nothing to fault. We will definitely come back again. The staff surprised us with some mini brownies with cream.

We had a few items from the menu. Steak tartare, chateaubriand. Cocktails. 2 desserts (one was kindly given for free)
The service was really good, professional and class.
The steaks themselves were tasty, well cooked and well presented.
I would say the price is a little excessive, the sauce pots were very small for the price of 3-5 pounds, and every side is additional. The food is very good but the prices of the sides and sauces let them down as the were not anything special. To be honest I think miller and carter sauces were better than the sauces provided here.
The sides themselves were okay. We had sauteed spinach and mac and cheese, again, it was mediocre and not worth the price. If the quality of sides were better, I think it would justify the prices.
The desserts were delicious though, 5/5 for the desserts.

Great food selection of well presented and cooked Steaks. Nice service, a bit corporate feel. Fairly priced for London.

Friendly and attentive staff make this an enjoyable resturant. The steaks are Devine and they have a good wine list which starts quite resonable. Business lunch around £100 per person with drinks. Wholly recommended.

We had a team dinner here, everything was lovely.
My starter of Scallops was well cooked, maybe a tad more seasoning required. The Sausage starter went down a treat.
The main event was well cooked, tasty, the mash was a bit disappointing, lacking flavour but the meat was superb. Service is slick and unintrusive. Would definitely come again.

UPDATED review....
To the world at large,
I have updated my initial review from two stars in mid-November 2024 to a five-star rating following my second visit on February 8, 2025 and for good reason.
Hawksmoor Guildhall truly cares. They were genuinely concerned about my previous experience and made every effort to set things right and they absolutely did.
Vallie Perret, Assistant Reservations Manager, was exceptional in our communication. Her kind and thoughtful offer of a complimentary meal set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
My wife and I visited for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, and the experience was flawless. Every member of staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The service was nothing short of exceptional, and the wine recommendation — Hartenberg Cabernet Sauvignon was spot on.
The food was simply outstanding. I won’t list each dish, because every single bite was perfection.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Hawksmoor Guildhall. Bring your family, bring your friends as this was the best customer service I have ever received in a restaurant, and I can’t wait to return!

Booked a table just for dessert which was happily accommodated. The staff were all super friendly and warm, which really added to the experience! The sticky toffee pudding was absolutely incredible - one of the best desserts i have ever had. A moist sponge which was not at all stodgy, with the perfect amount of toffee sauce to accommodate it. The flavour was amazing - sweet, as a sticky toffee pudding should be, but not too much. I will be back just for this, but am also keen to try other things on the menu too! Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely!
Update Sept 2024: came by Hawksmoor again for my birthday for this glorious dessert. AGAIN, the staff were so so lovely, and the dessert as glorious as ever. The chocolate written happy birthday and candle was truly the icing on the cake - I cannot wait to come back!

Superb experience! I selected this restaurant in order to eat my first Sunday Roast, and to be honest I’ll never forget that experience! In addiction I really enjoyed to drink something on the bar before to get a table. All the staff were really focused to everyone and about every detail! Well done!!!

Not a lot of experience with steakhouse but...
The food was excellent. Starters particularly a highlight - we had the ash beetroot, bone marrow and pot beef with Yorkshire pudding. Steak was melt in your mouth and really well cooked and seasoned. Fries so tasty and the bone marrow was such a good portion size with big bones which was nice. One of the best sticky toffee puddings in London top! Only slightly negative comments r.e food would be the buttered greens only being cabbage? Was slightly disappointing as we would have wanted more variety. My sister also thought the burger was slightly overcooked.
Service was excellent, personable, friendly, fun, and most importantly attentive! Thank you Richard for your work!
We attended for graduation celebration and were gifted a large pour of Muscat with dessert which was appreciated.
Atmosphere - compared to other hawksmoor locations I think this one is not quite as impressive but it is sitll nice and perhaps this is a good thing giving choice of the vibe.

We hosted a client event in a corner of this pub. Food was great, though not very varied. The staff were fantastic, especially a female with dark hair - great service. Choice of drinks is adequate. The place had a good buzz, which we all enjoyed. Overall, I would recommend for a pint or even hosting a small event.

We had two and one pint of Jubel, with their green curry and steak pie.
The beer and the meals were both awesome. Not to large, not too salty, plenty of flavor. The beer was refreshing and perfect after w day exploring London.
Brilliant service from a very friendly staff. If you see and friendly Romanian with a fantastic mustache - you're in good hands.
Music is a great play list of slick 90s memories. Atmosphere is what I would want out of any pub in the area.
Well priced, very similar to what we'd pay back home in Canada. For the same food and service.
Recommend.
5/5 Top Shelf

Good pub for after work or leaving drinks. I went for leaving drinks and big area for us. Quick service at bar, never waited longer than 2 mins, which is very good for central London. Friendly staff. Good Guinness.

Booked on to see ‘Home Alone 2’ for the Taste film experience. Whilst the atmosphere, service and entertainment were impeccable, the food did lack in terms of taste and quality. I recommend coming here for the experience to see your favourite films, as it is still a fun day out.

Went for a Taste Film experience and it was absolutely amazing. The bar cocktails that were separate from the organised menu we had were so so good, served quickly and so gorgeous! The staff went above and beyond throughout, and the food was incredible!

I came here for the TasteFilm Dirty Dancing screening by myself. Firstly, the staff were so welcoming and guided me to my table. They went over dietary requirements and made sure everything was set.
The timing of the food and drink were spot on with the scenes, and it was cute having a menu too which showed what I was eating/drinking and when to expect it.
The atmosphere was relaxed and I had enough room on the table and on my sofa.
Highly recommended and I can't wait to visit again in September!

Visited for a Taste Film event. Ordered a Coke and a flat white. We were directed to use a QR code and app rather than order at the bar. A mandatory 12.5% service charge was applied. Coffee was good, Coke was cold. 12.5% feels excessive.

The pasta and coffee combination sounds bit awkward but that’s what I bought from Coco Di Mama and I never regretted my decision. I am all time pasta lover but coffee is something I am very particular about and here I did t get disappointed. The taste of coffee is something specially different. #vikrmn

I love the coffee here - it's smooth, well-rounded and flavoursome without being bitter. And it's consistently good too. The queue to pick up the coffee can be a bit haphazard and annoying, but they always get the order correct and it's worth it. The breakfast pots are tasty too - the avocado and egg pot is healthy without being dull to eat. The sourdough breakfast baguette is actually as well filled and tasty as the menu photo suggests!

Store and staff very friendly. I've had better hot chocolate. Pasta great and quickly served. Specials a bit hit and miss. Getting increasingly expensive - now £6.50 for standard pasta.
Music way too loud to hear servers.

We hosted our work Christmas party for a group of 126 people, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the very beginning, the communication with the team was excellent—every detail was handled smoothly and efficiently.
The staff on the night were super helpful and incredibly friendly, making sure everyone felt welcome and taken care of. The three-course meal was delicious, with plenty of compliments from our team about the quality of the food.
They were also extremely accommodating when our live band arrived to set up. The space worked perfectly for both the seated dinner and the band’s performance, creating a great atmosphere for the evening.
I can’t recommend Austin Friars Balls Brothers enough for any large event or party. A huge thank you to the team for helping us create such a memorable night!

Went to gingers drag brunch, wow it was amazing!! Big big shout out to Mark who was incredible with our service and always making sure we were topped up. We thought we lost my girlie's phone but he really went to effort to find it and he did! And highly recommend his cocktail bird jingle. Show was brilliant and really good value for money. The venue is really nice and when I spoke to Mark, i want to bring my dad here as he would love this place. Overall really great experience, great show and lovely staff. Highly recommend!

Christmas lunch for our team of 33 yesterday was above excellence. Stepping up to the balcony where just our team were sitting, my first vision of the area layout was excellent, with all decorations and enhancements that would be expected at Christmas time. Our tables were in groups rather than one long table, this was ideal for us and worked out very well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, seating comfortable and so very cozy. We had three courses, each pre-selected course had good options to choose from. Dietary requirements were of no problem to them and were adhered to, this was certainly a 5 Star lunch and 5 Star service, for me it was the best turkey dinner I'd had for some time, courses were delivered with a good rest period between each one, no rushing, and the staff were very attentive. All in all, we all had a wonderful Christmas lunch, not one complaint, all enjoyed their meal, we would certainly go again.

Came with my partner for drinks and we got a great table with really comfortable chairs. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, we were offered different types of wine, definitely the waitress knew a lot about wine ! Also we had few starters and then steaks for main course. Food was really tasty, no complaints. Coming back for sure!

I think this is the pub closest to Liverpool Street Station. It's a fairly typical city pub but we went on a Saturday afternoon where there was live sport showing on the TV screens all round the pub. It was a football game and so the atmosphere was maybe a little louder than non-event days. Anyway, it's a long time since I have been in a pub like the Railway where you can stick to the floor but the beer was good and reasonably priced so what's a little adhesion?

I just popped in for a quick half pint while I waited for my phone to charge so I could figure out how to navigate the underground after Hammersmith and City and Circle lines were facing big delays. Not a bad place to visit at all - it seemed really busy after the working day.

A great little pub on the corner of Wilson Street offering a fine array of both cask and keg ales. The Red Lion is a lovely offering from Greene King. Friendly, traditional and welcoming. The service is great and with a smile. A lovely twist on the menu offering the 'invisible Mac' to give support to cancer patients. A menu option, so positive and discretionary, well done.
