We really enjoyed our stay at Thistle London Hyde Park Kensington Gardens.
The rooms we booked were clean, quiet and very comfortable (especially the beds).
Breakfast each morning was wonderful. A great selection of fresh products, with something for everyone.
Room service was very good.
Staff were friendly helpful.
The hotel is is a great location - close to public transport (catch the 94 bus out front to Piccadilly Circus), walk to Paddington, Notting Hill, through Hyde Park and many other places.
We'd definitely stay here again.

Very nice staff, always kind and willing to help! Great location in front of Hyde park and with easy transportation choice. Very good breakfast, both for quality and choice. I definitely recommend this hotel. I have been twice and I would not hesitate to come back. Thanks for contributing to making our staying in London so enjoyable!

Had a 3 night stay in a standard double room. Room was a little small with limited space for luggage but there was space under the bed. Overall the room was typical for a traveller. A great location. Close to Hyde Park (across the road) and Notting Hill. All staff we encountered were very friendly and attentive. Overall a great hotel and would stay again.

Excellent location for a vacation to London. Very close to a beautiful royal park, two underground lines and multiple bus lines. Very nice selection of restaurants and more reasonably priced souvenir shops. The rooms are fine, but we did notice some stains on the floors and bedding, but for the price this can be overlooked.
Lance Mosher - 3 weeks ago
Very nice staff, good breakfast and good location close to public transport. The interior is a bit worn out and the walls of our room were quite thin so we could hear a man in the room next to ours speaking on the telephone.
But overall it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend the hotel for a short city trip.

I came here only for barbecue duck and it is really good. Duck is juicy and I think it is better than another branch in China town.
Shop is quite busy during 8pm.
They take order quite quick but a bit long time to take a bill.
Seats inside are very packed.

Wanted to compare the roasted duck between this restaurant and the one down the road. Both are equally good but the one here is sweeter. We also ordered the set meal A which consisted of an assortment of dishes as we were undecided what to order. I like the corn soup which has similar texture and consistency of shark fins soup. My favourite was the stir fried beef which was tender and full of flavours. The other dishes except the fried rice were also good. Fried rice was quite bland.
Service here is not as friendly but it was efficient. We got our food quickly after we placed our order.

Always wanted to try this place since I always see long queues snaking outside the restaurant during peak dinner time. If you come before peak dinner time (5.30 pm), you might be able to walk in without a red snag a table, because that’s what we did.
Everyone comes here for the duck— typical Irish fat duck, which is fat and juicy. We liked the duck but we would have preferred it if the skin was a little crispier.

One of my old favourite Chinese restaurants in London, I started coming back here again. Food has always been exemplary, but other restaurants with the same cuisine in the area give it a run for their money. Still, comes highly recommended.

Love their crispy duck, roast duck, and char siew roast pork.
Staff are friendly and attentive.
Service is quick.
It gets crowded, so come early or be prepared to wait.
Decor is old and seating crowded.
Could use a spruce up.
It doesn't affect the dining experience though.

My recent visit to Queens Way Bowling was a mix of strikes and gutters:
**Positives:**
**Bowling Lanes:** Well-maintained and smooth, making for an enjoyable game.
**Atmosphere:** Lively and energetic, perfect for a fun outing with friends and family.
**Staff:** Friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive experience.
**Facilities:** Clean and well-organized, with a good range of amenities.
**Negatives:**
**Food and Drink:** Could use improvement in terms of quality and variety.
**Wait Times:** A bit long during peak hours, so best to book in advance.
Overall, Queens Way Bowling offers a solid bowling experience with a vibrant atmosphere. Worth a visit, especially if you enjoy a good game and can plan ahead to avoid wait times. 🎳

I went bowling with a relatively large group of people and It was quite okay, the decor and theme are quite good and there’s a nice animatronic dragon at the entrance which would be quite cool to little kids. The bowling was quite good, the ball delivery after each turn was very efficient and the seating areas were okay but could be better I guess.

Went there for a quick game of bowling, ended up staying for a couple of games and to watch some ice hockey. Great atmosphere, attentive staff and cheery/knowledgeable doormen (which I find quite rare in London). Defo be back again soon!
Small side note: Only down side to the venue, is the heat in the bowling alley. Need to crank up that AC.

Loved all the games! Tried bowling, darts, arcades and pool. Good beers and food. Everything seems very organised. Would like to try the skating soon

QUEENS skate dine and bowl is a good venue for small to large groups looking to have fun with a variety of activities. Personally, I have spent most of my time ice skating, but have visited to bowl with a large group. The ice rink is very good, as it gets resurfaced regularly throughout the day. The staff on the rink are generally really friendly and helpful, and are often helping people when they fall over.

We had exactly the dinner we were looking for - perfect fish and chips and lovely sticky toffee pudding - at a nice little table outside. Just a great little neighborhood pub!

Great spot for a drink and some food. Had the steak ale pie and was very impressed. Had a few drinks while waiting for others and they had a good selection of beers on tap. Recommend a stop if you're looking for food or a drink. Food and a beer was around 20 pounds depending on what you get.

Perhaps it was an off night. It was a nice place inside and the food was good, although not as good as anywhere else we've been on our visit to London. But the staff wasn't very friendly.
They show Cheers on TV here a lot. It had the feel of Norm running the bar and Carla bartending, is the best way I can explain it.
ADDENDUM: No, they don't show Cheers on TV at this bar. They have the attitude of Carla, as you can see by their response.

100 m from the noise of Queensway, the Phoenix, Moscow Road W2 couldn't have been more different than the chaos we left in search of a good second pint. Nice sofas and a few tables outside, the pub deserved more punters than it had when we visited. Very nice. Wish we had tried the food so no review. Apparently dog friendly too.

A very lovely location with great views, good fish & chips, and fresh flowers at all the tables. Staff was very nice and you could easily get someone's attention. Only complaint is that the cottage pie seemed a bit microwaved in how the heat was distributed.

It’s a great place to hear live music 4 days a week, Thursdays to Sundays. The Steve Young duo on Sunday October 14 was excellent. They sang and played the violin and guitar and lots of the patrons joined in. A fun time! The bar doesn’t take cash so you have to use your credit card.
This was my first visit and I didn’t order any food, just had one drink.

The steak pie dinner is what I'd describe as being a typical London pub counter meal: tasty, filling, and exactly what I was after to accompany a pint of Guinness.

Visited for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was relatively empty but food took a long time to arrive, about 30mins. The food was good. There is a very limited menu and therefore even more limited if you are vegetarian. Service was good. It was really cold in the whole place. The inside is huge so suitable for groups. Drinks selection is extensive.

Did they live up to the hype? Yes, they did!
To start with, very friendly staff in this restaurant. From service manager to regular waitress were all very friendly and welcoming.
Clean! The place is well maintained and the utensils are spotless. 🍴🍽️🥢
The food is very well prepared and cooked. Possibly the best duck I have ever tasted. 🦆Juicy, tender and the sauce that flows over it is so yummy! 😋 The Spinach is well cooked and very tasty too. 🥬 (This is a difficult Chinese veg to cook) and the beef 🐄 was tender and super yummy. (No frozen smell or taste)
Overall, I’m going to agree that this would be one of the best Chinese Cantonese Duck that you can get in London. 👍

Had a small wedding dinner in one of their private rooms. Not only their roast duck is superb, their customer service is top notch! Their roast duck is still one of the best ones in London even after so many years. I used to come here as a student and after 10 over years, they are still as good as I remembered. The skin is super crispy and the meat is succulent. All the other dishes I’ve had are excellent as well. The staffs were lovely and super friendly. Goldmine is definitely my go to Chinese restaurant whenever I visit London.

The food here is so good.
I have been wanting to try this restaurant, as I’m a big fan of Four Season food, and from what I heard that Gold Mine is just the same food but more expensive compared to Four Season, but this is totally not true, as food at Gold Mine is so much better. Roasted Duck is a must-try, Dim Sum here is also very good.
Indeed, you pay a bit more for so much better food.
Highly recommend.

Great duck! Just the right portion of duck and rice would do the job. Duck tongue is served cold with chilli oil. Staff are quite active to juggle around different tables. The entrance is quite small for a wheelchair. Tables are also packed so it's not easy to roll in and out. Restroom is definitely out of questions for handicapped.

This is one of my favorite roast duck restaurant in London! I have 1st tried their roast duck 20 over years back and the roast duck has been pretty consistent. The dim sum portion is considered generous and big. The har gao and egg tart is so good! We dropped by during lunch time and the restaurant is crowded and the q for dinner time is always long as our hotel is nearby. Will definitely be back if I get a chance to visit London again!

Quiet pub for a weekend lunch. Staff were not really friendly but not rude either.
Food was served quickly and the quality was alright. Portions were more than generous.

Avoid. At least, the fish and chips.
Not sure what the other reviewer who sang it's praises was served... Overpriced, poor quality and not as advertised.
(1) See the pic of the menu description. Note the description for the peas and the chips. You can see that the (miserly portion of) peas was not "crushed" in any way! And the chips hadn't been adequately cooked once, let alone multiple times aka "triple-cooked"(2) What's up with the portion sizes? Are frozen peas expensive? And potatoes? At least there was no service charge on top of that £17 bill.
I ate the whole meal, but I didn't love it, and wish I'd gone elsewhere.

We were staying in the area for one night, and Bella Italia stood out as a nice place to go. We received a warm and friendly welcome, although our waiter seemed a little preoccupied with his friend outside during our dinner.. Great choice of good quality dishes, what we ordered was most enjoyable. Overall, it was a really nice evening, and I would visit again.

Although a small space inside, it gives it alot of character. Food was excellent, gave me a taste of Cyprus’s culinary delight. Even met the mother chef. Absolutely loved the experience here. Not the easiest environment to bring babies to though. The restaurant only had one high chair and no space for prams.

Had a great lunch there. The food is the star - authentic and superb. We had the pork fillet and the slow cooked lamb. Both were well flavoured and the lamb, fork tender. The rice was fluffy and worked a treat.
All in all, a must try.

They provide very authentic food. You have book in advance since the seating area tend to be limited. I had the lame fest with rice, prawn shrimp, wings, hummus with lame is the best. Overall very positive experience. I would recommend it to others. Take into account that they charge high prices for their dishes.

This traditional Greek restaurant, just a short walk from Bayswater station, is a popular spot. Booking is recommended, as we observed many walk-in customers being asked to return later when we visited. The service is unhurried, the experience is about savouring the homemade dishes at a relaxed pace. .

I went there in an autumn wet day for lunch. Surprisingly, many tables are seated. Thought the ginger lobster noodles is a bit expensive compared to other dishes, it is worth trying. Staff are helpful, and hospitality. We ordered only two dishes, Ginger Lobster Noodles and Drunken Chicken, with a bowl of steamed rice. That is sufficient for a couple.

If you are looking for a genuine Chinese food experience then look no further than Mandarin Kitchen. The hustle and bustle of a busy Chinese restaurant adds to the experience. No airs and graces just good food, service and atmosphere.
We dined like emperors. Two of us took down half a roasted duck, half a drunken chicken, fried prawns in egg yolk, lobster over soft noodles and morning glory. The menu is extensive but looking around at what others were being served suggests everything was as good as that we ate. We finished with toffee apple and ice cream. That was nice but my only ask would be a few more Asian choices such as mango sago pudding!
The service is attentive and the food flew out of the kitchen piping hot and perfectly cooked. That said, we were not rushed and having been seated at 7pm, left happy and full just before 11pm.
Located just across the road from Queensway on the Central Line makes this an essay get to and from for those in London.
The bill came to £90 each, which is arguably on the tad expensive side although given the amount of food we are would normally have fed four it was pretty reasonable!
Happy eating. I’m definitely returning!

Great place to have a big family feud dinner! I would advise to book in advance during peak dinner times and they only take telephone bookings as of yet. Been here plenty of times and the food is consistently delicious! You wouldn’t want to come here without ordering the famous lobster noodles with ginger and spring onion which is our family fav, plus the beef ho fun and sesame prawn toast. If you have room for dessert, top it up off with an order of banana fritters with ice cream. Yum! Service is generally polite and dependent on who serves you on the day tbh. The place is a little cramped when it gets busy and you may find yourself brushing a couple of chairs navigating the way to the restroom which is up 2 flights of narrow stairs. It would be great if they could accommodate a disabled friendly toilet downstairs.

Don’t know why this restaurant is so popular. Mediocre food and service. I think easily can get from China town. The duck was recommended and it’s super “dry”. Clams was a bit overcook and the large prawn is nothing special too. The lobster noodles is the best among all as the meat is tender and sweet. Won’t be coming back for sure.

I've wanted to come here for a while to try the lobster noodles and they didn't disappoint. Our group of eight shared two lobster noodles and 1.5 duck, salt and pepper squid, salted egg yolk prawns, green beans with garlic, braised seafood noodles and beef hor fun. I'd recommend coming specificially for the lobster noodles and duck as the other dishes were just okay. The service was quite slow and despite having a reservation, we waited at least 10 minuted to be seated and had to constantly flag down staff.
