Vancouver Public Transit

An overview of Vancouver public transit for tourists and visitors

Vancouver boasts one of the largest integrated public transit systems in North America. Vancouver transit is comprised of the SkyTrain system, bus system and the Seabus all operated under Translink.

The vast service area covers 1800 square kilometres with over 180 bus routes in addition to the SkyTrain and Seabus. You can travel through all three modes of transit and throughout the system on the same pass or fare. The transit sytem is divided into 3 fare zones, however, these zones do not apply for travel on Weekends, Holidays, or any day after 6:30 pm, They also do not apply if you purchase a day pass which is often the best value for tourists. The current price of a day pass is $9.00 or $7.00 for seniors and children age 5 to 12 (4 and under are free). The day pass is good from the first bus in the morning until the last bus at night and for travel in any direction through all 3 zones.

Travelling on the Vancouver SkyTrain and/or Seabus will be an enjoyable part of your tour. The SkyTrain offers excellent views of the city as it travels through much of Vancouver on an elevated track above the houses and traffic. The Seabus offers superb views of the Vancouver Harbour, Downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, the Lions Gate Bridge and the North Shore Mountains.
