Recommended restaurants for dining near the Underground

London offers a prolific choice when it comes to eating out. You will find it also has a full gamut of American fast food outlets including MacDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Hut and Starbucks. We won't discuss those any further as their offerings are generally well known, and predictable - usually okay for the odd meal out.

Restaurants are also plentiful in all of London's Shopping Districts and flagship department stores and malls including Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, and Westfield London Shopping Centre.

London's Royal Parks including Hyde Park, Regents Park and Saint James's Park also provide a variety of choices for eating out.

As a general rule, restaurants that are in or close to major tourist attractions offer less value than those that are farther away, for example in Westminster which is at the heart of tourism in London there are very little in the way of budget restaurants, however if you head a little north and east into the Mayfair, Soho and Leicester Square/Covent Garden area you will find plenty of great value for your food budget. You will usually fare well by finding places that are popular with the locals.
